NCAAF Picks: Texas Tech travels to Oklahoma State Thursday

NCAAF Picks: The Texas Tech Red Raiders have devolved into a one dimensional team that has a strong offensive passing attack but lacks the running game to finish drives and fields a defense that has been rendered defenseless. The Oklahoma State Cowboys have proven that they can compete with the best in a close 37-31 opening day loss to Florida State but have the metrics of a middle-of-the-pack team.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will host the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thursday night at Boone Pickens Stadium with coverage on ESPN starting at 7:30 PM ET. Check BetDSI for the latest odds.

Trouble Matchup?
Oklahoma State is 2-1 straight up and against the spread with all three of their games going over the total. The Pokes are coming off a bye week that followed a 43-13 home payout against a tough Texas San Antonio club. Starting QB JW Walsh is lost for the season with an ankle injury but backup Daxx Garman has been outstanding as the replacement with a 164.6 QB rating and 4-to-0 TD/INT ratio with 11.4 yards per pass all of which were significantly better numbers than what Walsh posted.

Defenseless

Texas Tech is coming off a bye week that followed a 49-28 home loss to Arkansas and now stands at 2-1 SU, 3-0 ATS, with a 2-1 mark over the total. Defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt was fired after the Arkansas game as his unit ranked 112th in the nation for points allowed and a hapless 125th against the rush.

Matchup and Pick

Texas Tech has struggled to maintain board value on the road as of late with just four payouts in their last 11 away games as 15 out of their last 20 away games have gone over the total. Oklahoma State on the other hand has covered 14 out of their last 18 home games against the spread with just three out of their last eight home games going under the total. Oklahoma State has dominated their head to head series with Texas Tech as they have covered the spread in eight out of their last nine games with the Red Raiders as four out of the last seven meetings between the Pokes and Red Raiders have gone over the total. We’ll call for Oklahoma State and over the total in this one.
