Guerrero vs Peralta Boxing Odds – The Honda Center in Anaheim, California hosts Spike TV and the Premier Boxing Champions on Saturday night, August 27th, for a 10-fight card that sees welterweights Robert Guerrero and David Peralta duel in the main event.
Guerrero is 33-4-1 and he is now 33 years old. He has gone 2-3 in his last five fights, and the common thinking is that his better days are behind him. For him, this fight is the start of a run he hopes will prove otherwise. The fact is that his three recent high-profile losses have been to some of the very best boxers in the world (Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia and Floyd Mayweather Jr). He took all three of those fights the distance and in the most recent one of those fights, against Garcia in January of 2016, the judges had it 116-112 for Garcia, a close score. Guerrero needs a sharp outing to prove he is still at the top of his game. In Peralta, he faces a fighter from Argentina who is making his debut outside his home country. Checking Peralta’s record, there is nothing like the competition Guerrero has faced. This will be the biggest fight of Peralta’s career by far, and he will be 34 years old later in August. Though a win would maker a nice birthday present for him, the books are not giving him much of a chance.
El “Perro” Alfredo Angulo returns to the ring after a layoff of one year to face Freddy Hernandez. Angulo’s name still resonates among the hardcore boxing audience, but he was practically written off in 2014 after taking three losses in a row in which he did not look good. He did come back and win two fights in 2015, but the competition was no longer top shelf and the reviews were still not good. Hernandez has also put together a series of wins after a spell that saw him go 1-7. Hernandez has faced the likes of Erislandy Lara and Demetrius Andrade, taking both men the distance. Angulo and Hernandez both are looking to keep winning as they hunt bigger money fights. One of the men will suffer a setback this Saturday.
Undefeated 18-0 Terrell Gausha is scheduled to face Steven Martinez (16-2) in another bout scheduled for ten rounds. Gausha was a member of the much maligned 2012 US Olympic Boxing Team that did not win a single medal, but he has been solid as a pro. His teammates from the US squad such as Errol Spence Jr, Rau Shee Warren and Dominic Breazeale have started to break into the world title picture in their respective weight classes and that is there Gausha wants to be as well. Martinez is a hard hitter who was given the nickname “The Hitman” in honor of Thomas Hearns.
