CM Punk vs Mickey Gall Odds Review for Sept 10

CM Punk vs Mickey Gall Odds Review

CM Punk vs Mickey Gall Odds Review – This coming Saturday, September 10th, the UFC 203 card comes to us on PPV live from the  Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The headline fight sees the UFC’s heavyweight title on the line as champion Stipe Miocic faces the challenge of Alistair Overeem. Despite the show featuring the heavyweight title and it being very close to Miocic’s hometown, the fight that may be getting the most attention on the card is the welterweight preliminary bout between Phil Brooks and Mickey Gall.

Phil Brooks is making his MMA debut in the UFC at the age of 37, and that would not be happening if Brooks were not better known by his former pro wrestling persona, CM Punk. Punk was a well-established superstar on the WWE roster, but he left the business and has been pursuing his UFC debut for almost two years now. He signed up to train at Duke Roufus’ gym in Milwaukee, and he has been preparing for his first fight under what can only be called a shroud of secrecy.

Mickey Gall is 24 years old, and he is 2-0 as a pro in MMA. He also lists a couple of amateur fights, so he has more in-ring MMA experience than Punk by a little bit. Gall fought on a UFC Fight Night this past February, winning a fight in 45 seconds against another novice in what amounted to an audition for the fight with Punk. He has been waiting patiently to fight Punk, even after the fight was postponed due to a Punk back injury. Gall described a fight against Punk as his “lottery ticket.”

The vibe heading into what could have been a major debut is decidedly low-key. The UFC has released a promo video, and Punk’s story certainly is interesting on the surface, but there is very little shown of Punk actually training or sparring. Some reports say he is not very good. If he comes out and gets beat up by Gall, he will likely be in an embarrassing situation and likely never be heard from again. The UFC can’t appear to dwell on him too long if he does not show himself to be at least credible. But perhaps Punk will craft an upset in his first UFC fight.

CM Punk vs Mickey Gall Odds Review

Below are the lines and the over/under numbers for Punk vs Gall encounter. Right now, the bookies are not believing in Punk at all, as Gall is a nearly 3-to-1 favorite in the fight. What is more, the under at 1 1/2 is paying back a t-190, which means the odds are that Gall finishes the fight relatively quickly.

One thing is for sure, you can expect to see a completely different CM Punk. He regularly entered the WWE ring above 200 lbs as he bulked up for that gig. This fight sees him have to make 171 pounds (1 pound weight cushion in non-title fights) and it is a real unknown as to how his body will handle competing 30 plus pounds lighter.

Welterweight 3 rounds
CM Punk +240 o1½ +165
Mickey Gall -280 u1½ -190
