Arizona Diamondbacks – San Francisco Giants Preview – 08.31.2016

In the second of a two-game series between the San Francisco Giants (71-60) and the Arizona Diamondbacks (56-76) at AT&T Park, Matt Moore (8-10, 3.95 ERA) and Shelby Miller (2-9, 7.14 ERA) get the start. The Diamondbacks won the last game 4-3, and Arizona leads the series 1-0. The game gets underway at 3:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and will air on FSAZ and CSBA.

In his last start, Moore pitched 8.2 innings, allowing zero runs, striking out seven and walking three in a 4-0 victory over the Dodgers. The Diamondbacks were unsuccessful against the Padres 13-6 the last time Miller pitched. He went 5.0 innings, allowing six runs, striking out five and walking one.

San Francisco, a -141 favorite, will look to capitalize at home against Arizona. The Over/Under (O/U) for the matchup is eight runs. The Giants are in an interesting position this season. While they have a notable winning record in games where they’re the favorite (52-33), their overall money line (-330) is less impressive. Moving on to the away team, the Diamondbacks come into this game with a weak win percentage of .347 when playing as the underdog (26-49) and an overall money line of -2,046. Over the last 10 games, the team is winless as the underdog with a 0-2 record and 5-5 SU. The Diamondbacks have racked up 109 steals on the year, making them one of the most threatening base-running teams in the league.

The Giants have gotten the best of the Diamondbacks in head-to-head matchups this season, going 9-6. This game will feature Miller (LHP) on the mound against the Giants, who have a 24-16 record when they take on a left-handed starter. The left-handed Moore will take the mound against the Diamondbacks, who have an 18-16 record against lefty starters this season.
