UFC 203 Main Card Odds Review For Sat – The UFC 203 pay-per-view event hits the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio with a card headlined by the UFC heavyweight title fight between champ Stipe Miocic and challenger Alistair Overeem.

Miocic is making the first defense of the title he won from Fabricio Werdum n his last outing. In that fight, Miocic stepped in for an injured Cain Velasquez and took home the belt, making short work of Werdum with a first round knock out. Miocic is 15-2 overall, but he is going to have to reel off a few successful title defenses before he gets the full respect of the UFC public as champion.  Losing the belt to Overeem in his first title defense would make him basically another forgotten man, so Miocic has some validation to earn with a win here.

And for Overeem, it must feel like a long time coming. Overeem’s UFC debut where he defeated Brock Lesnar was a perfect set up for a run as company poster boy for him, but two subsequent losses derailed his plans big-time. To his credit, he has gone back to work and has won five out of six fights since, including four in a row.

Werdum didn’t do enough in his first title defense to warrant a rematch for the belt, so he is being asked to take on Travis Browne again. The fight is a rematch, and Werdum won the first meeting back in April of 2014 by UD after five rounds. Browne has gone 2-2 since then, and he has in fact been alternating wins and losses since the end of 2013. Werdum has never lost two fights in a row in his entire MMA career, and he has huge advantages over Browne once the fight gets to the ground.

Popular Urijah Faber returns to the 135 pound bantamweight division to face up and coming Jimmie Rivera, who is 19-1 overall in his MMA career. It is unusual to find Faber an underdog for anything but a title match, but Rivera comes with a lot of heat.

A pair of women’s fights anchor the main card as flyweights Joanne Calderwood and Jessica Andrade meet and bantamweights Bethe Correia and Jessica Eye also lock up. For now, the UFC seems to be stuck on promoting just two women’s weight classes, and here we see the 115 pound flyweights and the 135 pound bantamweights. None of the women have an option to go up or drop down a weight class in the current structure, so the UFC still needs some help in giving the ladies a level playing field.
