Houston Astros – Cleveland Indians Preview – 09.07.2016

In the third of a four-game series between the Cleveland Indians (79-58) and the Houston Astros (74-64) at Progressive Field, Carlos Carrasco (10-7, 3.06 ERA) and Doug Fister (12-10, 3.91 ERA) get the start. The Astros won the last game 4-3, and Houston leads the series 2-0. The game gets underway at 7:10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Sep. 7 and will air on STOh and RTSW.

In his last start, Carrasco pitched 7.1 innings, giving up zero runs, striking out 11 and walking one in a 6-2 victory over the Marlins. Carlos Santana (.243, 73 Rs, 29 HRs, 69 RBIs, 5 SBs) played well again yesterday, going 2 for 4 with one run, one home run, and one RBI. The Astros were unsuccessful against the Rangers 10-8 the last time Fister pitched. He went 3.2 innings, allowing eight runs (one unearned) and walking one. George Springer (.256, 104 Rs, 26 HRs, 75 RBIs, 9 SBs) went 1 for 4 yesterday with one run.

For the 11th time this season, the Astros registered at least two errors in a game.

The Indians managed to give up four walks in their last game. They’ll have to pick it up against the Astros who are coming in with a 43-22 record against opponents who give up that many walks or more.

It looks like the Astros have a slight leg up on the Indians, as the Astros have won their last three games while the Indians have lost their last two.
