On the last episode of Lucha Underground, there was a huge triple threat match in the main event. Pentagon Dark defeated two lucha libre veterans in Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. Tonight features another huge main event, where Prince Puma and Mil Muertes have a rematch that goes all the way back to the first Ultima Lucha.
Opening Segment
Vampiro approaches Prince Puma to wish him good luck against Mil Muertes later tonight. Puma rejects Vampiro, and says that he would rather die by Mil Muertes’s hands than live by Vampiro’s. Before Prince Puma walks away, Vampiro predicts that Mil Muertes will “die” at the hands of Puma.
Matanza Cueto (c) (w/Dario Cueto) vs. Killshot – Lucha Underground Championship
The make this match official, Dario Cueto brought back the almost weekly tradition that is Dario’s Dial of Doom. The dial features names of wrestlers who have not faced Matanza Cueto before. Cueto spins the wheel, and whoever’s name it lands on gets an immediate Lucha Underground Championship match against the undefeated Matanza Cueto. Tonight is Killshot’s lucky (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) night.
The last time we saw Killshot in action, he competed in a brutal Weapons of Mass Destruction match, where he defeated Marty “The Moth” Martinez. Weeks after getting hit by every weapon imaginable, Killshot is still taped up from those battle wounds.
Matanza rolls out of the way, escaping a double stomp attempt from the top rope. The champion then follows it up with a vicious clothesline, and finishes Killshot off with Wrath of the Gods to continue his streak of dominance. Winner, and STILL Lucha Underground Champion: Matanza Cueto
After the match, Killshot is left in the ring and an unknown man approaches him. It appears that Killshot knows him, giving him a hug. The man is not so loving back, and instead attacks Killshot and drops his own dogtags on him. According to Vampiro, the man could have said “You left me for dead,” which is a reference to Killshot’s time in the military.
Fenix, Aerostar, & Drago vs. Unknown
Before the opponents of the Trios Champions appear, Dario Cueto exits his office to announce some exciting news: in four weeks, 20 competitors will be squaring off in the return of Aztec Warfare. To give Matanza more competition, he will be defending the Championship at Aztec Warfare, and will be entering at #1. To follow that, he offers the Trios Champions a shot at entering last by pitting them in a triple threat match against each other.
Fenix vs. Aerostar vs. Drago – Winner Enters at #20 at Aztec Warfare
While the winner of this match wins the “unique opportunity” of being last at Aztec Warfare, the two losers of the match will be out of the match entirely. Fenix has entered at #1 for both iterations of Aztec Warfare, so being #20 would be a huge change for the former Lucha Underground Champion.
Drago knocks Fenix out of the ring, then hits Aerostar with a snap DDT to win the match and the “unique opportunity.” Winner, and #20 at Aztec Warfare: Drago | Elminated from Aztec Warfare: Aerostar & Fenix
Backstage Segment
Johnny Mundo approaches Dario Cueto in his office about how he wants a chance at the Lucha Underground Championship. Since he knows that it’s unlikely, he demands a shot at Sexy Star’s Gift of the Gods Championship. Cueto isn’t sure about this idea until Mundo gives him a briefcase, holding most of Cueto’s $100,000 that dates back to the first-ever episode of Lucha Underground.
Prince Puma vs. Mil Muertes (w/Catrina) – No Disqualification
Prince Puma was a recent winner of Dario’s Dial of Doom, and he looked like he was going to be the first person to defeat Matanza Cueto. Before Puma would assumedly put Matanza away, Mil Muertes would interfere in the match and ruin his chance of becoming a two-time Lucha Underground Champion.
To end a hellacious match, Prince Puma hits a 630 Splash on Mil Muertes and covers the Man of 1,000 Deaths for the win. This was only the second time these two faced off one-on-one, and the first time Prince Puma has ever pinned Mil Muertes. It turns out that Vampiro’s prediction was correct, after all. Winner: Prince Puma
