It has been quite the turnaround from Week 19 to Week 20 in the Premier League with one week wrapping up on New Year’s Day and the following week getting underway on January 2nd. That’s right: the previous week is over and we’re already moving forward to the upcoming slate of games, which get underway quite early this week. We took the tight turnaround in to consideration when attempting to build the ideal fantasy roster for Tuesday with just three games on the board. Here is a look at the optimal EPL fantasy lineup for Tuesday’s DraftKings Premier League tournaments.
GK: Wayne Hennessey, Crystal Palace
Salary: $5,300
For as bad as Crystal Palace has been of late, they have an excellent opportunity to get back on track with a win on Tuesday when they clash with Swansea City. Swansea has been limited to just two goals while dropping four in a row and they are now sitting dead-last in the Premier League standings. Crystal Palace could get back on track with a win and Hennessey’s fantasy score will look even better if he can earn a clean sheet bonus. Crystal Palace definitely needs the three points here as they are in 17th place in the standings. In terms of EPL fantasy, Crystal Palace has given up 35 goals in 19 games so far this season but we’re considering the opponent. Swansea has managed to score just 21 goals on the season, which is the fourth-fewest in the Premier League.
D: Scott Dann, Crystal Palace
Salary: $3,700
It only makes sense to roll with a couple of Crystal Palace defenders, especially considering their matchup and low price tag. Dann is available at under $4K so he fits perfectly as a strong sleeper value pick.
D: James Tomkins, Crystal Palace
Salary: $3,600
Tomkins is another sleeper value pick available in the same price range as Dann. The offensive upside isn’t very high with either player but the potential is there for both to benefit from a clean sheet bonus with a strong defensive effort.
M: Alex Sanchez, Arsenal
Salary: $9,400
After finding some excellent value options at the defender positions, we have the opportunity to spend big on the most expensive player on the board for Tuesday in Sanchez. He is eligible at both the midfield and forward positions but considering the other options available it makes a lot more sense to use him at the midfield spot. Arsenal has been one of the best sources of offense in terms of EPL fantasy as they’ve managed to score 41 goals in 19 games so far this season. Only two other teams have scored more than them.
M: Wilfried Zaha, Crystal Palace
Salary: $7,900
Zaha will provide the link from the defense to the strikers on Crystal Palace and he is reasonably priced enough in EPL fantasy to fit in our lineup. Zaha could fly under the radar a little bit heading in to Tuesday’s matchup so we like him as a second midfield option.
F: Olivier Giroud, Arsenal
Salary: $7,600
Giroud set the bar for goal of the year for 2017 with his incredible redirect in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day and we are banking on it inspiring more confidence for him over the next couple of weeks. GIroud has the skill set to deliver a dominant EPL fantasy performance so he is a strong stack with Sanchez for Tuesday’s action.
F: Christian Benteke, Crystal Palace
Salary: $7,300
Benteke’s availability influenced us to use Sanchez at the midfield position and add another CP option that we think will have a strong performance on Tuesday. We are already all in on a strong matchup and Benteke’s potential is extremely high up front for this game against Swansea City.
FLEX: Charlie Daniels, Bournemouth
Salary: $4,800
With around $5K left over to spend on our final FLEX position, we will turn to the other side of the Arsenal matchup with Daniels. There are other forward and midfield options here but we trust Daniels to deliver a strong performance in EPL fantasy with the potential for him to contribute at the offensive end of the pitch as well if it is a higher scoring matchup.
