The Premier League is operating on a condensed schedule this week with last match week wrapping up on Wednesday and a new match week beginning with seven games scheduled on Saturday. We took everything from the short week, player values and matchups in to account when evaluating the best possible EPL fantasy lineup for this week. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings EPL fantasy leagues.
GK: Simon Mignolet, Liverpool
Salary: $5,800
Liverpool managed to earn a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in its last match but should be in better position to capture a victory when they take on Hull City. Hull managed to play spoiler against Manchester United when they held them to a 0-0 draw but it will be a lot more difficult to do that against a Liverpool side that is desperate to earn points in order to keep pace with the top clubs. They enter the week in fourth place.
D: Dejan Lovren, Liverpool
Salary: $3,500
Only Middlesbrough has scored fewer goals than Hull City so far this season so it makes sense to capitalize on the matchup with a couple of sleeper value picks from Liverpool’s defense beginning with Lovren.
D: Joel Matip, Liverpool
Salary: $3,200
Matip is the other Liverpool defender that is worth including in this lineup as he should be in the lineup again versus Hull City. The potential is there for both Lovren and Matip to earn clean sheet bonuses with strong performances on Saturday.
M: Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool
Salary: $8,800
Coutinho represents our fourth Liverpool selection in a row as we continue our stack in order to take advantage of the favorable matchup. Coutinho is an excellent option this week and after saving on our defender positions we can afford to spend big on him in this spot.
M: Dele Alli, Tottenham
Salary: $8,600
Our first venture away from Liverpool’s roster is for Alli, who should be in an excellent position to add to his point total when Spurs clashes with Middlesbrough this week. Alli is another one of the most expensive options on the board but he is definitely worth spending a little more on this week.
Tottenham is second in the standings. They have been a quality option for EPL fantasy in terms of offense as they’ve scored 45 goals so far this season. That’s the fourth-most goals in the Premier League this season.
F: Romelu Lukaku, Everton
Salary: $8,000
Lukaku has shown flashes of brilliance for Everton this season and while his $8K price tag is a little bit high it isn’t at all unreasonable. Lukaku should be among the best forward options this weekend so it makes sense to use him in this spot.
Everton enters the week in seventh place in the Premier League standings. They have 37 points in 23 games and have scored 34 goals so far this year.
F: Christian Benteke, Crystal Palace
Salary: $6,700
Benteke is available for a lot less money than Lukaku but he could deliver similar results if he can play to his potential this weekend. Crystal Palace is fighting to get out of the relegation zone and a win over Sunderland would provide a huge boost to their chances.
It’s not often that Crystal Palace is in our weekly EPL fantasy writeups but Benteke is in a good spot this week. Crystal Palace enters the week in 18th place in the EPL standings with just 19 points. They are two points out of 17th place.
FLEX: Georginio Wijnaldum, Liverpool
Salary: $5,300
Considering the performance that Wijnaldum delivered versus Chelsea, it only makes sense to turn back to him in this spot as our final FLEX option. Wijnaldum is available for just $5.3K and he appears to be the best option on the board that we can afford with our remaining salary cap space.
Liverpool enters the week in fourth place in the EPL standings with 46 points. They are a great source of offense in terms of EPL fantasy as they have scored 52 goals so far this season. That number is the most in the EPL this season.
