WWE Power Rankings, Week of 2/27/17

Last week, we debuted the first installment of the Get More Sports WWE Power Rankings, where we rank the 25 best Superstars based status, impact, and momentum. This week was packed with important WWE television, from Raw’s Fastlane “go-home” show, to a stacked SmackDown, and an NXT episode that featured two title matches.

  1. AJ Styles (+7)
Even though Styles was never given his one-on-one title rematch, he competed in a #1 Contender’s match against Luke Harper. As expected, the match was great, Styles pinned Harper after a great 450 Splash, and he moves to the #1 Contender spot.
  2. Braun Strowman (+0)
Strowman keeps making an impact week after week, and this week’s contract signing with Roman Reigns led to a huge brawl. Strowman yet again won a battle against Reigns, and broke a turnbuckle in the process.
  3. Luke Harper (+4)
In his match against AJ Styles this week, Luke Harper proved that he can be a main event talent. And unlike anything on Raw, Harper got a great reaction from the fans, including many “Let’s go Harper!” chants that were unheard of a couple months ago.
  4. Samoa Joe (+2)
On top of being Triple H’s enforcer when Seth Rollins is around, Joe put on another great match. After defeating Cesaro, Joe’s Raw record bumps up to 2-0 going into Fastlane, where he will take on Sami Zayn.
  5. Asuka (-)
Asuka successfully retained her NXT Women’s Championship in a pretty solid match against Peyton Royce. The Empress of Tomorrow is still undefeated and has a good chance at breaking Goldberg’s 173-0 streak.
  6. Becky Lynch (-)
The Lasskicker won a 2-out-of-3 Falls match against a seasoned veteran in Mickie James, which keeps the former SmackDown Women’s Champion right around the title picture.
  7. Kevin Owens (-6)
All the Universal Champion did this week was cut a promo, confronting Goldberg and trying to convince us that he will keep the title on Sunday.
  8. Nia Jax (-)
Jax essentially took care of Bayley and Sasha Banks all by herself, pinning the former in a tag match on Raw. This puts her in a good spot to be the next #1 Contender.
  9. Bray Wyatt (-6)
In a very unusual segment, Wyatt showed some of his best character work when Randy Orton left his side and destroyed part of the Wyatt Family compound.
  10. Randy Orton (-)
The Viper joined the Wyatt Family months ago, but he revealed this week that it was all part of a plan to strike from within. After getting inside the head of the WWE Champion, Orton reinvoked his WrestleMania main event clause from winning the Royal Rumble.
  11. John Cena (+0)
Cena appeared on MizTV this week and dismantled The Miz’s argument of The Champ being a washed up Hollywood part-timer. Later in the night, he made a fool out of James Ellsworth and made a match for next week.
  12. Alexa Bliss (-7)
Other than unsuccessfully interfering in the 2-out-of-3 Falls Match, Alexa Bliss didn’t do anything this week. It helps that she got a free week added to her title reign.
  13. #DIY (-)
As usual, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa put on an exciting match when they challenged the Authors of Pain for the NXT Tag Team Championships. They won the match, but only by disqualification thanks to the Revival.
  14. Peyton Royce
Somehow, Royce managed to do a better job against Asuka by herself than in the Fatal Four Way match. Regardless of the loss, it has been her best match in NXT so far.
  15. Roman Reigns (-3)
Reigns put up a good fight, but he lost yet another battle to Braun Strowman. At least he signed the contract for their match at Fastlane.
  16. Dean Ambrose (-)
Instead of putting us through a match where he beats Curt Hawkins, he hit Hawkins with Dirty Deeds before the match began. Afterwards, he cut a great promo fueled by his rage towards Baron Corbin.
  17. Enzo Amore & Big Cass (-4)
Big Cass took on Luke Gallows on singles action this week, and came up with a win while Enzo Amore dealt with Karl Anderson at ringside. While it’s great for them, the tag division doesn’t matter at all.
  18. Cesaro (-)
As always, Cesaro shows his tremendous ability in the ring. In a great match with Samoa Joe, he only lost because he tweaked his knee early on.
  19. Bayley (-15)
The biggest drop on this list goes to the Raw Women’s Champion, who got pinned by Nia Jax six days before defending the title against Charlotte.
  20. Brian Kendrick (+2)
Although Nevile normally plays this role, Brian Kendrick was perhaps the only interesting thing about the Cruiserweight Division this week. he is also doing a great job at getting Akira Tozawa accustomed to the WWE style.
  21. The Revival (-)
Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder are forcing themselves into the NXT Tag Team Championship title picture by messing with the Authors of Pain every chance they get. This week, they interfered in the championship match.
  22. Charlotte (-3)
While she didn’t get the pinfall (or do most of the work), The Queen picked up a tag team victory over the Raw Women’s Champion and Sasha Banks.
  23. Sami Zayn (-)
After Samoa Joe defeated Cesaro, Sami Zayn turned the tables and attacked Joe from behind. Zayn took it to the big man, enough so to lead to a singles match this Sunday.
  24. Tony Nese (-)
After a hell of a match last week, Tony Nese barely stays on the Power Rankings after winning a six-man tag team match on 205 Live.
  25. Goldberg (-)
The former WCW Champion gets onto the list right before his championship match at Fastlane because he cut yet another surprisingly solid promo. This time, he had to go tit-for-tat with Kevin Owens.

This was a big shake-up from last week’s Rankings, with several Superstars being on for the first time, and just as many getting kicked off. With Fastlane this Sunday, expect some more crazy jumps next week.
