NASCAR Xfinity: My Bariatric Solutions 300 Preview

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Fort Werth, Texas for the first of two Xfinity races that will be held at Texas Motor Speedway this season. Formerly known as the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300, NASCAR decided to move this race from Friday night to Saturday afternoon and rename it My Bariatric Solutions 300. Kyle Busch has dominated this event in the past including winning here a year ago. With three top-10 finishes in as many Xfinity Series starts this season, it won’t be a surprise if Busch is in the mix again.

Event Details

Event: My Bariatric Solutions 300

Category: NASCAR Xfinity Series

Date: April 8, 2017

Location: Texas Motor Speedway, Fort Werth, Texas

Kyle Larson won the last Xfinity Series race at California a couple of weeks ago. Joey Logano finished second, followed by Busch in third. Busch and Logano have had an intriguing rivalry that has transcended the Xfinity and Sprint Cup Series this season. It will be very interesting to see if those two drivers get after one another again at Texas this week.

Past Five Winners

2016: Kyle Busch

2015: Erik Jones

2014: Chase Elliott

2013: Kyle Busch

2012: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

What To Know About The Course

The need for speed will be met this week at Texas Motor Speedway. The repaved and reconfigured track should lead to faster speeds with less down force to worry about this weekend. Turns 1 and 2 were widened and the banking was reduced from 24 degrees to 20 degrees. NASCAR usually makes sure there are tests to match the tire compound with the track to help reduce tire wear during the races after track alterations. However, that didn’t happen following the changes at Texas, which could mean some wild racing in the Xfinity Series race on Saturday.

The Field

It could be more of the same this weekend with Busch and Logano in the spotlight at Texas Motor Speedway again this weekend. Busch will be the sports betting favorite to win the race outright, with Logano right behind him. Meanwhile, Larson will be looking to win his second Xfinity race in a row. Erik Jones is coming off a strong finish at California and should be in the mix again. William Byron and Darrell Wallace Jr. all delivered strong performances at California and shouldn’t be overlooked this week.

Taking a look at the standings entering the week, Sadler leads the way with 189 points. William Byron has been right on his tail and has 172 points so far. Byron has four Top 10’s and two top fives so far this season. Justin Allgaier sits in third place with 143 points. He has three Top 10’s this season.

A Good Matchup To Bet: Kyle Larson over Elliott Sadler

Larson has been on an absolute tear in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the Xfinity Series this season. There is every reason to expect him to continue his dominance this week. Larson has finished third or better in each of his three Xfinity Series starts including a win at California in his most recent start. Meanwhile, Elliott Sadler has been fairly consistent with four straight top-10 finishes, but hasn’t placed higher than fifth in the Xfinity Series this season. Look for Larson to finish ahead of Sadler at the My Bariatric Solutions 300 this weekend.

Top-Five Pick: Kyle Busch

Busch has been outstanding both in the Xfinity Series and in the Sprint Cup Series this season. However, with the exception of his Xfinity Series win at Atlanta he hasn’t found his way back to Victory Lane, even with top-10 finishes in all but two of his starts in either series. Busch is overdue for a win and considering his past success in Texas he should be right there contending for the victory on Saturday. Even if he doesn’t win the My Bariatric Solutions 300, Busch should be a lock to finish in the top-five.
