205 Live Recap: Neville Defends His Crown

This week on 205 Live, WWE tries to get fans to tune in with a huge main event, where Neville will defend his Cruiserweight Championship against his former ally, TJP. Luckily for fans of the action-packed Cruiserweight Division, this is not the only featured match of the night. Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar square off to finally blow off their feud regarding Alicia Fox, and Mustafa Ali is in action to try and bounce back from a few consecutive losses.

Cedric Alexander vs. Noam Dar
When Noam Dar gets to the ring, he cuts a promo about his “true love” with Alicia Fox. Fox, who is at home recovering from a neck injury, started dating Dar after Cedric Alexander broke up with her. Now that Alexander has returned, Dar tells him to get over it and move on.

The match is pretty back and forth, but a Lumbar Check from out of nowhere takes out Noam Dar and picks up the win for Cedric Alexander. After defeating Dar, Alexander yells at him, “I’m over this; I’ve moved on!” Alexander says that is Dar is smart, he would move on too. Winner: Cedric Alexander

Louie Valle vs. Mustafa Ali
Mustafa Ali has been in a bit of a rut recently. After returning from getting attacked by Drew Gulak and Tony Nese, Ali would lose to Gulak a rematch last week. On top of that, Ali competed on Raw this week, only to lose to TJP.

Ali goes to the top rope to set up for his signature Inverted 450 Splash when Drew Gulak appears on the entrance ramp with his megaphone and protest sign. Gulak distracts Ali by chanting for “no high flying,” and this distracts Ali enough for Valle to sneak in a roll-up. Fortunately for Ali, he reverses the roll-up to get the win. Winner: Mustafa Ali

Gulak congratulates Ali on winning the match by staying grounded and he preaches to the audience. While looking at the audience, Gulak is taken out by Ali jumping over the top rope to hit him with a somersault senton. While there is not much further this feud could possibly go, Gulak and Ali will probably wrap things up pretty soon. So far, both men have come out of the feud better than when it started, especially Gulak.

Video Package
Alongside Sasha Banks, Rich Swann defeated Noam Dar and Alicia Fox at the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View. With Swann and Banks seemingly moved on from Dar and Fox, a video package focuses on Swann’s journey throughout his career. It touches on Swann’s rough personal life growing up, his path to capturing the Cruiserweight Championship from The Brian Kendrick, and his recent success with Banks. Perhaps Swann is getting another shot at the title soon.

Backstage Segment
We switch gears to Rich Swann talking to Akira Tozawa backstage when they are interrupted by Raw’s Titus O’Neil. O’Neil approaches “Towaza” and asks the Stamina Monster about joining the Titus Brand. Tozawa doesn’t say anything, but he shows a confused expression on his face the whole time.

Neville (c) vs. TJP – Cruiserweight Championship
After TJP failed to regain the Cruiserweight Championship months ago, he had a change of attitude. He aligned himself with Neville, taking out Austin Aries and Jack Gallagher any chance he got with the promise of a future title match. On Raw this week, Neville promised to finally give TJP his championship opportunity if he could defeat Mustafa Ali. TJP defeated Ali and he got his match, but Neville attacked him to warn him of what is to come.

Neville locks in the Rings of Saturn submission and TJP manages to reverse it into a roll-up. The King of the Cruiserweights is able to reverse his weight back into the submission hold, forcing TJP to tap out. At this point, it seems like no one can stop Neville from holding the title. Winner, and STILL Cruiserweight Champion: Neville
