There was only one change to the All-Star edition of the power rankings in which two teams switched spots in the middle of the list. As for the All-Star Game in Miami, the American League won 2-1 in 10 innings for their fifth straight win in this game. Seattle’s Robinson Cano was named the MVP for hitting the game-winning homer. However, there is no home-field advantage for the American League in the World Series.
The odds will change in the coming days as the teams get back to action but the big news that will also tweak the numbers is a trade. The Chicago Cubs have acquired Jose Quintana, formerly of the Chicago White Sox, and maybe that’s the shot in the arm they need to make a run in the second half of the season.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers lead the National League West by 7.5 games, and they have an MLB-leading 61 wins after sweeping Arizona and Kansas City at home. They’ll open up the second half of the season in Miami and Chicago against the White Sox. Justin Turner hit .250 last week with two home runs and four RBIs, while the Dodgers hit just .241 as a team. However, the Dodgers had an ERA of 2.13 as a staff with the starters picking up four of the six wins.
2. Houston Astros

The Astros are one game behind the Dodgers, but lead the American League West by 16.5 games after finishing off a two-game sweep in Atlanta, then they split four in Toronto. They’ll resume at home with Minnesota and Seattle. The Astros hit .359 last week with Jose Altuve (.632, one homer, six RBIs), George Springer (.524, two homers, eight RBIs) and Carlos Correa (.412, three homers, seven RBIs) leading the way. Houston’s staff had an ERA of 4.15, although Brad Peacock tossed six scoreless innings in a win in Toronto.
3. Washington Nationals

The Nationals split four at home with Atlanta before the break, and they lead the NL East by 9.5 games as they open the second half in Cincinnati and Los Angeles against the Angels. Anthony Rendon had an average of .462 last week with no homers and three RBIs. Washington’s bullpen stepped up last week, picking up both wins as the starters struggled (although Max Scherzer started the All-Star Game), and the staff had an ERA of 4.75 as a whole.
4. Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox have a 3.5-game lead in the AL East after losing three of four in Tampa Bay, and they resume at home with the New York Yankees and Toronto. Dustin Pedroia hit .333 with two homers and four RBIs, while Chris Sale took a loss in Tampa Bay, but started the All-Star Game. Boston’s staff had an ERA of 4.13 last week.
5. Cleveland Indians

The Indians are atop the AL Central by 2.5 games after splitting four at home with San Diego, then they won two of three at home with Detroit. They’ll kick off the second half on the road in Oakland and San Francisco. Jose Ramirez hit .421 with a pair of homers and six RBIs. Mike Clevinger blanked Detroit with six scoreless innings of three-hit ball as the Indians had an ERA of 2.50 last week.
6. New York Yankees

The Yankees trail the Red Sox by 3.5 games in the AL East as they lost two of three at home to both Toronto and Milwaukee. They’ll head on the road to Boston and Minnesota this week. Aaron Judge hit .333 with two homers and three RBIs, then he won the Home Run Derby in Miami. The Yankees had a 5.17 ERA last week with Masahiro Tanaka (a loss) and Michael Pineda (a non-decision) allowing a combined 10 runs in just 7.1 innings against Milwaukee and Toronto, respectively.
7. Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are 5.5 games behind Milwaukee after losing to the Brewers at home in a make-up game, then they lost two of three at home to Pittsburgh. They’ll travel to Baltimore and Atlanta to begin the second half. Kris Bryant hit .400 with two homers and five RBIs, but the staff had an ERA of 5.00 last week. Jon Lester failed to make it out of the first inning against the Pirates, allowing 10 runs (although only four were earned because of a Bryant error).
8. Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks trail the Dodgers by 7.5 games in the NL West as they were swept in Los Angeles, then they lost two of three at home to Cincinnati. Arizona heads to Atlanta and Cincinnati to resume the season. Paul Goldschmidt batted .263 last week, but he had one homer and one RBI as the Diamondbacks hit .185 as a team. Zack Greinke led a staff that had a 3.88 ERA, tossing seven scoreless innings in a win over the Reds.
9. Colorado Rockies

The Rockies are two games behind the Diamondbacks in the wild NL West as they split four at home with Cincinnati, then they won two of three at home against the White Sox. Colorad heads to New York to face the Mets, then it is back home to host San Diego. The Rockies hit .302 last week, led by Pat Valaika, who hit .385 with two homers and eight RBIs. They had an ERA of 4.00, but Kyle Freeland took a no-hitter into the ninth in a win over the White Sox.
10. Kansas City Royals

The Royals trail Cleveland by 3.5 games in the AL Central after sweeping in Seattle, but then they were swept in Los Angeles by the Dodgers. They’ll open the second half at home with Texas and Detroit. Eric Hosmer hit .412 with a homer and four RBIs, although the Royals hit .217 for the week. The Royals had an ERA of 3.91, but Mike Minor had a good week in relief, going 1-0 in two appearances.
