Professional wrestling is a constantly changing world, and with the sheer amount of content to watch every week, lots of announcements and changes are going to be made every day. Today’s batch of news features John Cena landing a new movie role, a step forward for Titus Worldwide, and a history-making main event for Progress Wrestling’s New York City show.

John Cena Lands Leading Role in “Bumblebee”
Even though John Cena is one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all-time, he has reached 40 years old and needs to take a lighter WWE schedule to stay as healthy as possible. During his time away from WWE, he has hosted FOX’s competition reality show American Grit and the ESPY’s while making appearances in movies like Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck and Daddy’s Home. His next project is on a grander scale, with Cena scoring a leading role in the newest Transformers spinoff movie, Bumblebee.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “The story is set in the year 1987, where Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary yellow VW bug.” Bumblebee is set to release on December 21, 2018.

Jack Gallagher Returns to Progress Wrestling
For the past few weeks, Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Pete Dunne have been poking at each other for a match at the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Both men seemed like they wanted the match to happen, but with Gallagher regularly appearing on 205 Live, it seemed unlikely. Thanks to a strange but wonderful partnership between WWE and Progress Wrestling, however, this championship match will take place.

On August 12 in New York City, Gallagher and Dunne will clash for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. This will be Gallagher’s second attempt at capturing the UK Title, with the first being against Tyler Bate on an episode of NXT. However, Gallagher does have a slight advantage over Dunne. The last time they squared off, Gallagher defeated Dunne to qualify for the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, which made him a bona fide WWE Superstar. Dunne has had plenty of success in his own right since that loss, so this match is sure to be a good one.

Kenny Omega Defends His US Title Stateside
At New Japan Pro Wrestling’s G1 Special shows in California a few weeks ago, Bullet Club leader Kenny Omega became the first-ever IWGP United States Champion. Omega has yet to defend the championship, but Ring of Honor has announced when his next title defense will take place. Although the opponent is unknown, the IWGP United States Championship will be defended at Ring of Honor’s Global Wars 2017: Chicago show on Sunday, October 15.

Titus Worldwide Gets a T-Shirt
After the Superstar Shake-up, Titus O’Neil found the perfect opportunity to invest in Apollo Crews to start a new brand: Titus Worldwide. Since then, O’Neil has a second and more successful client in Akira Tozawa, who could be closing in on winning the Cruiserweight Championship. Titus Worldwide’s success has led to the official WWE stamp of approval: a t-shirt. This could push the former Titus Brand even further than expected, and O’Neil has already started trying to convince Shinsuke Nakamura to join him on Twitter.

Hell in a Cell 2017 Switches Brands
Last year, the WWE Universe watched Hell in a Cell as a show featuring Monday Night Raw Superstars, and most notably, the first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell match between Charlotte and Sasha Banks. This year, WWE is switching some shows between brands, meaning that SmackDown Live will be hosting Hell in a Cell this year, while Raw hosts TLC.

With the show taking place on October 8, there are a couple months that could lead to some great cell matches. SmackDown Live likes to be the “land of opportunity,” so there could very easily be a second women’s Cell match after the first (and second) women’s Money in the Bank match took place a couple months ago. While it definitely made sense for Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman to end their feud in the cell, this could help SmackDown Live regain some lost interest.
