Week 10 of the CFL season has arrived. With injuries piling up around the league, DFS fans might need some help when it comes to building a winning fantasy roster this week. We evaluated this week’s matchups and came up with the following rankings for our DFS breakdown heading in to Week 10 of the CFL season.
Quarterbacks
Mike Reilly, Edmonton Eskimos vs. SSK – $11.4K
Reilly has been absolutely lighting it up over his last five games. The veteran quarterback has thrown for 363 passing yards per game over his last five starts while throwing 11 touchdown passes and rushing for an additional five scores on the ground. He appears to be the best option on the board heading in to a home date with Saskatchewan.
Matt Nichols, Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ MTL – $10.5K
Nichols has put up some impressive numbers with Winnipeg this season. That trend should continue against a Montreal defense that has been the third-worst in the CFL versus quarterbacks this season. The Alouettes gave up 32 points to the Blue Bombers when these teams met back in Week 6. Expect Nichols to deliver another strong performance this week.
Ricky Ray, Toronto Argonauts @ CGY – $9.1K
Ray returned just in time to hand Montreal a lopsided defeat at BMO Field last week. Now he has to take his show on the road against the same defense that nearly forced him out long-term just a couple of weeks ago. The Stampeders defense is the second-best in the CFL against opposing quarterbacks. However, Ray will have revenge on his mind as he looks to keep the Argonauts in a game where they should be playing catch up for a good amount of the playing time.
Darian Durant, Montreal Alouettes vs. WPG – $9.2K
Durant looked absolutely terrible last week versus Toronto. He won’t look as bad this week against Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers defense has surrendered the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season so look for Durant to bounce back at home this week.
Running Backs
Andrew Harris, Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ MTL – $7.9K
Harris has registered 360 all-purpose yards over his last two games. Now he gets to feast on a Montreal defense that just gave up 38 points to Toronto last week. Harris is definitely in for another big performance in Week 10.
Jerome Messam, Calgary Stampeders vs. TOR – $7.5K
Messam should be healthy against Toronto this week but his touches could be limited in order to make sure he doesn’t aggravate the issue. The potential is there for a big performance versus Toronto. However, the Stampeders could also limit his production in an effort to avoid further injury this week.
Jeremiah Johnson, BC Lions @ OTT – $7.2K
Johnson has the second-best average fantasy score among CFL running backs this season behind only Harris. A road date against a suspect Ottawa defense should offer him plenty of opportunities to build on his impressive season to date.
Cameron Marshall, Saskatchewan Roughriders @ EDM – $6.1K
Marshall looks like a legitimate running back option this week with the Roughriders coming off the bye week to take on Edmonton. Marshall has registered double-digit fantasy scores in three of his last four games and should continue to thrive as the starter in Saskatchewan.
Wide Receivers
Greg Ellingson, Ottawa Redblacks vs. BC – $10.1K
Ellingson is a must-start this week against a Lions defense that could be in tough to contain him. Ellingson has been absolutely dominant for the Redblacks this season. He should be in for another strong performance as the top wide receiver play on the board once again this week.
SJ Green, Toronto Argonauts @ CGY – $8.7K
Calgary’s secondary has been very good this season. However, they will be in tough to slow down Green. The Argonauts No. 1 receiver has been dominant this year and he has his No. 1 quarterback back under center with Ray back from injury. Green should be worth the investment in DFS formats once again this week.
Duke Williams, Edmonton Eskimos vs. SSK – $6.6K
Injuries continue to pile up for Edmonton heading in to Week 10. However, that should only mean its strong depth is on display against the Roughriders this week. Williams is projected to deliver a top-five fantasy performance at his position this week. Considering his price tag in DraftKings tournaments, that should be enough to make him a lock in most DFS competitions.
Ernest Jackson, Montreal Alouettes vs. WPG – $7.4K
Jackson is another relatively decent option for Week 10 based in large part on his low price tag. The Alouettes will be playing with a sense of urgency following last week’s disappointing performance so look for Jackson to deliver a strong fantasy score versus Winnipeg.
Defenses
Edmonton vs. SSK – $5K
Edmonton’s defense slipped in last week’s loss to Winnipeg. Look for the Eskimos to bounce back at home following their first loss of the season. They’re hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who are the only team in the Western Division who is under .500. The Roughriders have scored a total 197 points in seven games. They are just one of three teams in the league that has scored less than 200 points.
BC @ OTT – $4.6K
The Redblacks offense has been incredibly inconsistent at times this season. They have scored 251 points, though, which is the best in the East. BC is coming off back-to-back losses so they will definitely be looking for an inspired effort from their defense on the road this week.
Winnipeg @ MTL – $4.8K
The Blue Bombers are capable of forcing turnovers and that will be their calling card once again in Montreal this week. The Alouettes looked terrible in Toronto in Week 9, so we won’t be surprised if Winnipeg shuts them down again this week. The Alouettes offense has scored just 168 points in eight games so far. Only one team (the Hamilton Tiger-Cats) have scored less points.
Calgary vs. TOR – $5.1K
Calgary has allowed a league-low 162 points this season. The second-best total is Montreal’s defense with 197 points allowed. The Stampeders are flying high heading in to this matchup with Toronto. Home advantage should help their defense deliver a strong fantasy performance this week.
