As the 2017 MLB season winds down, it’s time for our final look at the power rankings. The Cleveland Indians have the second-best record in all of baseball but they’re now the clear-cut favorite to win it all. They’ve played extremely well over the last month and as of this writing, have won eight of their last 10 games. As for the Los Angeles Dodgers, they were the team that was favored throughout most of the season. While they still have more wins (102) than the Indians (99), they have been nothing more than a mediocre team over the last couple of months, so the odds makers have dropped them. We’ll see if they can find their magic once the playoffs start but they are just 6-4 in their last 10 games. In third place are the Houston Astros, who have been overshadowed in the second half of the season but they have 98 wins themselves and are also 8-2 in their last 10.
Here’s a look at the last edition of our power rankings:
1. Cleveland Indians
Last Week: 1
World Series Championship Odds: +285
The Indians top the American League Central by 16 games as they won two of three in Seattle, and they’ve split the first two of three at home against Minnesota. The Indians will close out the regular season at home against the Chicago White Sox. Edwin Encarnacion hit .444 over the last week with a pair of home runs and seven RBIs, while Corey Kluber kept himself in the Cy Young hunt with seven scoreless innings in a win in Seattle, striking out 10 and walking two for his 18th victory of the season.
2. Los Angeles Dodgers

World Series Championship Odds: +350
The Dodgers lead the National League West by 10 games and they have the most wins in the majors by three games over Cleveland after winning two of three against San Francisco and sweeping San Diego, both at home. They’ll finish out the regular season on the road in Colorado. Yasmani Grandal batted .353 with a pair of homers and six RBIs at the plate. On the mound, Rich Hill (two wins), Clayton Kershaw and Yu Darvish all won their starts, combining for three runs over 28.0 innings.
3. Houston Astros
Last Week: 3
World Series Championship Odds: +650
The Astros have a 20-game lead in the AL West as they won two of three at home over the Los Angeles Angels, and then swept Texas on the road. They’ll head to Boston to finish the regular season. Carlos Correa hit .440 with two home runs and 10 RBIs for the week. Justin Verlander won both of his starts and allowed two runs in 13.0 innings of work.
4. Washington Nationals
Last Week: 4
World Series Championship Odds: +650
The Nationals pace the NL East by 21 games after winning two of three in New York against the Mets, but they lost two of three in Philadelphia and will finish the regular season at home against Pittsburgh. Adam Lind batted .500 with two home runs and five RBIs for the Nationals, who will play the Chicago Cubs in the NLDS. On the mound, Max Scherzer allowed a run on three hits over six innings of a victory over the Mets.
5. Boston Red Sox
Last Week: 5
World Series Championship Odds: +800
The Red Sox are leading the AL East by three games after sweeping Cincinnati on the road, but they lost two of three at home to Toronto and will end the season by hosting Houston. Xander Bogaerts hit .391 with a home run and four RBIs for the week, while Rick Porcello was 1-0 in two starts for the Red Sox, although he allowed nine runs over 9.2 innings.
6. Chicago Cubs
Last Week: 6
World Series Championship Odds: +900
The Cubs clinched the NL Central and lead by six games after winning three of four in Milwaukee, and they’ve won two of the first three of four in St. Louis before returning home to host Cincinnati. Kris Bryant battled .440 with two home runs and six RBIs for the Cubs, who open the postseason on the road in Washington. John Lackey went 1-0 in two starts for the week, giving up four runs over 10.0 innings.
7. Arizona Diamondbacks

World Series Championship Odds: +1200
The Diamondbacks clinched the first NL wild-card spot as they won two of three over Miami and San Francisco, both of which were at home, and they’ll head on the road to finish the regular season in Kansas City. J.D. Martinez hit .550 with four home runs and 11 RBIs. On the hill, Fernando Rodney had a great week coming out of the bullpen, going 1-0 with a save in two appearances.
8. New York Yankees
Last Week: 7
World Series Championship Odds: +1200
The Yankees trail Boston by three games in the AL East, but they’ve already clinched the first wild-card spot as they lost two of three in Toronto, then won a home make-up game over Kansas City and they’ve won the first two of three at home with Tampa Bay. They’ll come home to finish the season against the Blue Jays. Aaron Judge batted .474 with five home runs and 10 RBIs over the last week, while Sonny Gray, Luis Severino, Jordan Montgomery and C.C. Sabathia all won their starts for the Yankees. The four pitchers combined for six runs over 24.0 innings of work.
9. Minnesota Twins
Last Week: —
World Series Championship Odds: +3500
The Twins clinched the second wild-card spot in the American League as they swept Detroit on the road and they’ve split the first two of three in Cleveland, and then they’ll come home to host the Tigers to finish the regular season. Brian Dozier hit .385 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs, while Jose Berrios, Ervin Santana and Kyle Gibson all won their starts, allowing eight runs over 19.0 innings.
10. Colorado Rockies
Last Week: 9
World Series Championship Odds: +4000
The Rockies lead the second wild-card spot in the National League by 2.5 games as they won two of three in San Diego, then did the same at home against Miami. They’ll host the Dodgers to finish the regular season. Ian Desmond batted .346 with a pair of homers and six RBIs over the past week for the Rockies, while Jon Gray and Tyler Anderson went 3-1 in four starts on the mound. The two starters combined to allow seven runs over 24.2 innings.
