The Baggies are in a negative form of eight matches without a win and it’s a wonder how they are still out of the danger zone with ten points in the 13th position in the Premier League. Another uninspiring display at St. Mary’s cost them three points late in the game as Sofiane Boufal brought a valuable 1-0 win to Southampton, and West Brom could prolong that poor run when the league leaders come to town on Saturday.
West Brom has played 11 in this season, recording three victories, four draws, and four losses, with a goal difference of 11:13, which is close to 2.2 goals per contest on average. The fact that the Baggies have only one home win in five outings is quite concerning for Tony Pulis and fans, and they already lost to the Citizens at The Hawthorns in this campaign – in the Carabao Cup when it was 1-2 for Pep Guardiola’s men.
Jay Rodriguez and Jose Salomon Rondon are the team’s top scorers with a couple of goals to their respective names, while seven different players score one goal apiece. The right winger Matt Phillips is the leading assists-maker with two dishes at the moment, but the inefficiency is Pulis’ nightmare as the Baggies scored just seven goals in nine Premier League games, and he doesn’t have a clinical finisher who would take the club out of the crisis. The defender Jonny Evans is unavailable due to a groin injury, while Hal Robson-Kanu (strain), James Morrison (Achilles tendon), Gareth Barry (back), and Oliver Burke (thigh) are all doubtful and could feature in this clash. The right-back Craig Dawson is still injured and will miss two more months with a knee injury.
Manchester City
The Citizens were near to suffer the first defeat in this campaign as they narrowly beat Wolves in the Carabao Cup, thanks to the penalty shootout. Manchester City was unable to get one past Will Norris in 120 minutes, despite playing with a strong lineup including Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, and Sterling. The substitute goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was the hero as he saved a couple of penalties to send his team to the 1/4 finals, and Man City prolonged their unbeaten streak to 14 matches. They are at the top of the Premier League with five points clear of Man United and Tottenham and are huge favorites to get three points at The Hawthorns.
Manchester City played 14 games so far in 2017/18, recording 13 wins and a draw, with a goal difference of 43:6, which is 3.5 goals per contest on average. The Citizens won all of their five away matches this year, allowing just two goals in the process, so the Baggies will face a huge test to beat Ederson on Saturday. Man City are without a loss at The Hawthorns since 2010 and will be looking to extend that positive tradition.
Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus are currently the team’s leading scorers with eight goals apiece, while Leroy Sane is right behind with seven, and this balance in the attack is key to winning games, so Guardiola has to be delighted. The midfield magicians David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne recorded eight assists each and are the major contributors to this offense. Guardiola cannot count on the left-back Benjamin Mendy and Captain Vincent Kompany, but other players are available and raring to go.

It would be surprising to see the Baggies avoiding a defeat here, and I think they have slim chances of doing so; therefore, I am backing the visitors to win and score in both halves.

BOURNEMOUTH
The Cherries won the previous two matches and they are looking to get out of the relegation zone with third in a row but will face a tough test as the reigning champions are coming to town. Bournemouth beat Stoke City at bet365 Stadium in the Premier League before eliminating Middlesbrough out of the Carabao Cup in the mid-week, and they are welcoming in a good mood, hoping for s positive result.
Bournemouth played 12 games in this campaign, recording five victories, a draw, and six losses, with a goal difference of 12:15, which is 2.25 goals per contest on average. The Cherries are without a home defeat in the last four outings, and they conceded just two goals in the process. Still, they suffered 1-3 and 1-4 defeats in the previous two meeting with Chelsea at Vitality Stadium and this will be a huge challenge for them.
Andrew Surman and Joshua King lead the team in scoring with a pair of goals apiece, while eight other individuals chipped in with a goal, but only Crystal Palace scored fewer goals than Bournemouth, and Eddie Howe must be concerned with lack of efficiency. The substitute goalkeeper Adam Federici will not be back until the mid-December with a meniscus injury; the left-back Brad Smith is out with a bruised hip, Tyrone Mings is also sidelined, but the Norwegian Joshua King (illness) could be back into contention for this encounter.
CHELSEA
The Blues snapped a two-game losing run with a 4:2 victory over Watford when they managed to come back and score three unanswered goals. Chelsea is currently in the 4th position in the Premier League table with 16 points, nine behind the league leaders Man City, but they also qualified for the 1/4 finals of the Carabao Cup thanks to a 2:1 win against Everton. Antonio Rudiger and Willian were the scorers, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin only softened a loss in injury time.
Chelsea played 15 games in the 2017/18 season, recording nine wins, two draws, and four losses, with a goal difference of 36:18, which is 3.6 goals per contest on average. The Blues have four victories and one defeat when it comes to away matches and has scored seven in the previous two visits to Vitality Stadium.
Michy Batshuayi and Alvaro Morata are the team’s top scorer with seven goals to their respective names, while Cesc Fabregas, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Eden Hazard are the major contributors with four assists each. Willian, Pedro, and Tiemoue Bakayoko are also among the key individuals at Stamford Bridge, and any of these players could turn the game around. Antonio Conte is still without N’Golo Kante (thigh) and Victor Moses (muscle), but the rest of the squad is ready to go.

The Blues were quite efficient at Vitality Stadium in recent history and I think they can continue with a positive record here, but considering their unconvincing defense, I am backing the hosts to find the net as well.
