A busy Thanksgiving of football cuts into Sunday’s games, but with no more bye weeks, 13 games are scheduled for Sunday (and Monday night), giving DFS fans one of the busiest weekends in the NFL since Week 3. With the weather getting colder, but the playoff races as hot as ever, the games are as meaningful as ever and could go a long way to deciding these years playoff team and seeding.
Twelve weeks into the season, little is known and predicting what players will have big plays (outside of maybe Tom Brady and Antonio Brown) is one heck of a challenge. For those looking for value in DFS, these players offer up good potential for a low price. Mixing some of these players into your lineup leaves some space to grab Antonio Brown or Tom Brady, helping balance out your lineup. For Week 12, these are the best values in DFS.
QB – Blake Bortles $4900
For the price tag, Blake Bortles is the start of the week in DFS at quarterback. Bortles has had a quiet season thus far but has generally played the most efficient football of his career. Arizona’s defense looked pretty shoddy last weekend against Tom Savage, opening the door for a decent game for Bortles. Savage had been a pathetic turnover machine. If he can find some success, Bortles should be able to as well.
An interesting point to bring up on Bortles, increasing his potential in Week 12 is his career rushing yards and touchdowns. Bortles has rushed for 80% of his career rushing yards and touchdowns in November and December. If he can pick up some extra points with his legs, he could have his second best fantasy game of the season (behind his four passing touchdown outburst in London back in Week 3).
RB – Jamaal Williams $4600
The Green Bay Packers continue to struggle on offense without Aaron Rodgers and should look more to the running game if they want to have any chance against Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has one of the best secondary in the NFL, but have not been as good at stopping the run. The Steelers allow 111 rushing yards per game at home this season, 21st in the NFL.
Williams is coming off two weeks which he averaged 19 carries. Expect the Packers to feed their running backs the ball, especially to Williams who looks like the best running back in the Packers backfield. At $4600, a running back with 20 or more touch potential is always a great value.
Keep in mind that the Steelers tend to play to the level of their competition. For the Packers to win here, they’ll have to have a ground game to rely on. With Ty Montgomery not being able to practice on Thursday, the Packers will need Williams to carry the mail.
WR – Sammy Watkins $4900
Last week the Saints’ secondary was torched by the Redskins, and in the process, they may have lost one of their best defensive backs (Marcus Lattimore) to an injury. Even if he does play, it is unlikely he is at 100%, which opens things up top for the Los Angeles Rams.
Out of all the receivers on the Rams roster, Sammy Watkins is the best deep threat. Watkins has been relatively hot and cold since joining the Rams, but when he is hot, he is a dangerous deep threat with big-play potential. The Rams offense should play better than it did last week with a better usage of Watkins being one of the keys to their success.
TE – Tyler Kroft $3900
Against the Browns, almost any tight end is a great start. The Browns are one of the worst teams in the NFL at stopping the tight end. Tyler Kroft has emerged as a quality tight end for the Bengals and had his best career game in Week 4 against Cleveland. The Giants have allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends but the Browns are No. 2 right behind them.
Surprisingly, Cincinnati is still in the playoff race, and a win against Cleveland could put them in a tie for the second Wild Card spot in the AFC. Expect Andy Dalton and the Bengals to come out firing on Sunday, targeting Kroft early and often.
