She has denied having any ambitions for political office in the past, but that hasn’t stopped the rampant speculation that she might end up running this time around. Will Oprah Run for President?
There’s no denying that Oprah is incredibly popular and would pick up a lot of support if she were to run for president. However, she has yet to give any indication that she plans to run for office.
Oprah has become more political over the last decade however. She did not publicly endorse a presidential candidate during the first two decades of her talk show, but did back Barack Obama early during his run in 2008. That endorsement played a substantial role in Obama earning the Democratic nomination and becoming the 44th POTUS, and that significance was not lost on her.
She has become more involved in politics since that moment and has held fundraisers for, and endorsed, other political candidates.
Additionally, although Oprah denied having any interest, her longtime beau Stedman Graham did say that Oprah would be open to the idea of running for the White House. Gayle King, Oprah’s best friend and confidant, also noted that she is intrigued by the idea of running for president.

Can Oprah win the Democratic Party nomination?
Although Oprah would garner a lot of attention and votes if she ran as an independent, the only way she has a chance of winning the presidency is if she is the Democratic Party nominee. Historically, she would have a hard time being the nominee since she has no political background, but domestic politics has changed drastically since the emergence and election of Donald Trump.
There is no shortage of candidates being floated for the Democratic Party nomination in 2020. The list right now includes celebrities and politicians alike, and the field could become crowded very quickly. It’s very possible that we see more Democrats running for the Democratic Party nomination in 2020 than the 15 Republicans that ran for the Republican Party nomination in 2016.
Two potential nominees in particular, Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama, could seriously derail Oprah’s chances if she were to run for the Democratic Party nomination. Both Harris and Obama are extremely popular in their own right, and both candidates could potentially cut into Oprah’s base.
Incumbency Advantage
Donald Trump might be one of the most unpopular presidents ever, but he has a much better chance to win re-election than many believe. Incumbents have a major advantage when it comes to retaining their seat at all levels of politics and the same goes for the presidency.
Whereas opposition party candidates have to slug it out over the course of the primaries, the incumbent can almost always rest assure that they will win their party’s nomination. That gives the incumbent time to build up a pretty sizeable war chest in order to hold on to their seat, while whoever emerges from the challenging party spends a large amount of their time trying to close the gap.
Oprah Winfrey 2020 Presidential Odds Prediction
There are far too many unknowns to bet the ‘Yes’ here at BetDSI Sportsbook.
Oprah Winfrey is definitely a viable candidate if she decides to run, but the odds need to be much higher in order to bet on Oprah to win the 2020 presidential election. She should be around 20-1 at this point, so betting the ‘No’ is very good value even though you will have to wait a long time to see the money.
Keep an eye out on Harris and Obama too. It is very likely that there will be some coordination beforehand in order to try not to split votes.
