He may have starred in the best Super Bowl LII commercial with his buddy Eli Manning, but it’s another team up caught on camera that could end up ruining New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s year.
In this video Beckham wasn’t dancing and enjoying the time of his life with Manning. Instead, he’s seen lying in bed beside a pretty delicious-looking pizza next to “Instagram model”Laura Cuenca. Beckham Jr. appears to be enjoying a cigar, something I think the kids refer to as a “blunt” while Cuenca is carving up lines of white powder which, obviously, is just crushed up Smarties.
What exactly is Beckham guilty of here? Legally, nothing. There’s no NFL rule that says a player can’t smoke a cigar. Obviously, none of us think that’s tobacco in it, but if the NFL can’t prove it’s marijuana, then there’s no real issue. Sure, Cuenca looks like she’s about to enjoy a little Scarface-style nose candy, but Beckham isn’t. He’s smoking a blunt, eating a pizza and about to sex up a hot model. Frankly, I’d be more shocked if he wasn’t doing something like this every weekend.
This isn’t the first time a rogue video has made its way to social media potentially showing an NFL star enjoying an illegal (in some states) substance. Two years ago Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was filmed enjoying a similar type of “cigar” at a concert. Exactly nothing came from it. In fact, Newton got in more trouble with the league and his sponsors by picking on a female sportswriter than grooving around with a jazz cigarette.

Beckham is in the final year of his rookie contract after the Giants picked up his fifth-year option. They’ll pay him a minimum of $8.459 million this season as they, presumably, work out a long term deal. Will a video like this hurt those prospects? Does the fact that OBJ was filmed with a scantily-clad young lady playing in the snow mean the NFL will pay a whole lot more attention to his daily and weekly activities this season?

Looking over these options, I can tell you what I think and if you feel there’s money to be made, now is the time to strike. Will OBJ be suspended for any games this season? That’s a hard bet, because he could be suspended for anything, including getting into an altercation on the field. Considering his history with Josh Norman of the Washington Redskins (and the fact they play twice a year), YES might not be a bad bet.

The number of games? I’d say under 2.5 is the way to go. I vote YES on the contract extension before Sept. 6, Nike rolls with him and he absolutely will NOT be seen with this woman in public. He has unquestionably deleted her out of his phone and moved on in his Instagram queue. Did she film any more videos she’ll want to post to get back at him?
