The No. 5 Kentucky Wildcats defeated the No. 13 Buffalo Bulls, 95-75, on Saturday, March 17, in the 2018 NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32. Kentucky successfully covered the 5.5-point spread. The game went over the total of 157.5.
Kentucky, which defeated Davidson in the tournament’s Round of 64, will move on to face the winner of UMBC vs. Kansas State. Odds for that Sweet 16 matchup will soon be released by BetDSI Sportsbook. We anticipate Kentucky will be a large favorite against either opponent.
Freshman guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a projected lottery pick, scored 27 points on 10-for-12 shooting to pace the Wildcats on Saturday. He added six rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Hamidou Diallo provided excellent defense and chipped in 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting. Kentucky won the rebound battle, 42-29. Senior guard Wes Clark, a Missouri transfer, had 26 points and six assists to lead Buffalo. The upstart Bulls of the Mid-American Conference return nearly their entire roster next season.
Though Kentucky is a No. 5 seed, the Wildcats were given solid odds to win the tournament, with BetDSI pegging Kentucky at +2300 to cut down the nets in San Antonio. Buffalo had much slimmer odds at +100000, tied for the slimmest odds of any team in the tournament.
