Memphis Grizzlies at Brooklyn Nets Betting Prediction

The Grizzlies come in on a high note after beating the Denver Nuggets in their last outing, 101-94. Memphis’ 0.488 effective field goal percentage was their biggest strength over Denver, who had a mark of 0.420. The Grizzlies’ mark was below their season average of 0.497, while the Nuggets’ was below their season average of 0.536. Memphis was led by Tyreke Evans, who put up 20 points and seven assists.

In the Nets’ last game, they were victorious over the Dallas Mavericks, 114-106. Brooklyn’s free throw rate was their largest advantage over Dallas. The Nets had a rate of 0.167 (matching their season average), while the Mavericks posted a mark of 0.130 (below their season average of 0.172). With 19 points and 12 rebounds, DeMarre Carroll played well for Brooklyn.

This contest should be a matchup of opposite paces. Brooklyn prefers an up-and-down style of play (fifth in possessions per game), while Memphis likes to grind-it-out (30th in possessions per game).

Memphis comes into the contest with records of 19-50 straight up (SU) and 28-38-3 against the spread (ATS). Of the Grizzlies’ 69 games, 39 have finished under the projected point total.

Brooklyn has a respectable record ATS (40-29-1), despite being 22-48 SU. Similarly to Memphis, a little over half of Nets games have finished under the total.

Both teams have had a couple of players trending in the right direction over their last five games. For the Grizzlies it’s been Jarell Martin (15.4 points and 5.4 rebounds) and Dillon Brooks (19.0 points and 1.2 steals), while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds) and Caris LeVert (13.8 points, 5.0 assists and 1.4 steals) have been stellar for the Nets.

This is the second game of the season between these two teams. In the first, Trevor Booker recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds and the Nets, who were 5.5-point underdogs, defeated the Grizzlies 98-88. The game finished with a total of 186 points, which was 26 points below the projected point total of 212 points. The Nets knocked down 19 of their 23 free throws (82.6 percent) and had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (33.3 vs. 26.2).
