The Florida State Seminoles made another upset and after defeating Missouri and Xavier, they beat the Gonzaga Bulldogs, 75-60, in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, March 22. The Seminoles comfortably covered the spread at +5.5, while the game went way under the total of 152.5 points.
The Seminoles advanced to the Elite 8 or West Region finals where they will face the Michigan Wolverines who destroyed Texas A&M in the Sweet 16, and once again, Florida State will be considered as an underdog in that duel.
The odds for the tilt between Florida State and Michigan will be released by BetDSI Sportsbook in a few hours, and even though the Wolverines are the No. 3 seeded team in the West Region, they cannot underestimate the team that already surprised three favorites so far in the tournament, so anything could happen on this one.
Game Recap
The Seminoles qualified for the Elite 8 just for the third time in the school’s history thanks to a tremendous discipline and excellent teamwork, and now nobody can exclude them from winning the NCAA title. Florida State had a 9-point lead at halftime and managed to fend off Gonzaga in after intermission with a great perimeter defense that limited the Bulldogs to miserable five triples on 20 attempts (25%).
Leonard Hamilton’s side shot 46.6% from the floor and hit six out of 20 attempts from beyond the arc (30%), while they recorded 12 more assists (19-7) and seven more blocks (9-2).
Terance Mann led Florida State with 18 points and five rebounds, while Braian Angola contributed with nine points, six boards, and five assists.
Florida State’s odds to win the NCAA Tournament can be found at BetDSI and they are pegging the Seminoles at +6000, which means that Hamilton’s men are considered as huge underdogs alongside Syracuse and Loyola Chicago. Their next rivals, the Michigan Wolverines, are currently the fourth favorite to win the NCAA Tournament with the odds at +850.
