Next up is Gabby who busts it out with “Rivers Deep.” I loved the way Gabby looked and sounded in this song.
Will @GabbyBarrett_ RISE UP to win the crown with that performance? She just might after that song! Download it here: https://t.co/96JkMtxtnY 🙌 #AmericanIdol #IdolFinale pic.twitter.com/fkxW2JHEKw

Maddie finishes out round one with her winner’s circle song, “Going Going Gone.” I can hear her on country music stations — she has a great voice. I like the song but she was a little pitchy on a few notes — again, nerves. Overall I think she did great though.
.@MaddiePoppe is going, going for the crown with a performance like that! Download her song here: https://t.co/iC7RUGnuH9 #AmericanIdol #IdolFinale pic.twitter.com/PinIcGh54X

In my opinion Gabby won round one. Except for Katy’s opinion about Caleb I have decided not to add in the judge’s comments. At this point, they don’t mean much.
Singing “Don’t Close Your Eyes,” is Caleb.
We sure aren’t closing our eyes – or our ears – whenever @calebleemusic sings! 👀👂 #AmericanIdol #IdolFinale pic.twitter.com/lTCxijkTd5

This song is in his wheelhouse, but he has to be more confident on the songs that are new just as much as the songs that are old. I liked it.
Next is Gabby singing “Little Red Wagon.” Again, it’s wheelhouse time and this is in Gabby’s. Her most comfortable song. Not much to say — it was great.
You can’t ride in that little red wagon, but you can listen to @GabbyBarrett_ crush it over and over! 🙌 #AmericanIdol #IdolFinale pic.twitter.com/2z1BtAUzgy

Singing “Don’t Ever Let Your Children Grow Up” is Maddie. I like this song, but the one thing about Maddie that’s getting to me tonight is that she — so far — is singing songs that are pretty much the same across the board. This one is country/folksy too. I’ve nver seen her rock out, ya know? Granted it’s her thing. Stand with the guitar and sing and she does it great, but I’d like to see a ‘little’ movement. Not my favorite song.
I think it was really close with Caleb/Gabby as the winner of round two.
On to round three:
Caleb is singing “Folsom Prison Blues,” and I love the look of him on stage and the steel look behind him. This song is perfect for him. Love it.
Gabby is singing “Don’t Stop Believin,”
We are absolutely believin’ in @GabbyBarrett_! #AmericanIdol #IdolFinale pic.twitter.com/ztBd5Uayzn

Maddie finishes out the competition with Landslide.
Not even a landslide can keep @MaddiePoppe from rising! #AmericanIdol #IdolFinale pic.twitter.com/6WvQ7PyUaf

I really want Caleb to win, but I think, from a purely singing point of view, it was Gabby’s night. I didn’t see much range in Maddie tonight. Just remember though, it really is a popularity competition. Whoever has the bigger voting fan base will win.
