The winner of the Aggies-Islanders match will remain in Aggieland and face the winner of the Baylor Bears-Washington Huskies encounter. The NCAA Tournament’s second round is slated to begin at 1 p.m. (CT).
Mark Weaver, the head coach, stated “There is unquestionably a sense of anticipation in the air here in Aggieland. Our team is poised to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the second time this season, following their resounding victory in the Southland Conference Championship. Coach Steve Moore does an outstanding job with his team, and I’m looking forward to Friday’s game. Baylor and Washington also present an exciting challenge, contributing to this being one of the tournament’s strongest regionals. Our squad is ecstatic to play in front of the 12th Man as we embark on our National Championship quest.”
Texas A&M is preparing to compete in the NCAA Tournament for the 27th time overall and 22nd time in a row. In their most recent tournament participation in 2021, the Aggies defeated Drake and Northwestern on the road before losing in the Sweet 16 to Florida State. Texas A&M is the only team from the state of Texas to have appeared in every NCAA Tournament since 2000, with a 29-26 overall record in the tournament.
