Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa underwent surgery for a high-ankle sprain on Sunday morning and will miss the next game against Arkansas, according to ESPN.
Tagovailoa suffered the injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Tennessee when he was sacked by defensive tackle Greg Emerson, who rolled over his right ankle on the play. It seemed like nothing was out of the ordinary, as Tagovailoa got right back up and stayed in the game, but he ended up leaving the field after a timeout and did not return.

Tua underwent a tightrope procedure on his right ankle in hopes of speeding up his recovery time. Tagovailoa previously had the same surgery done on his left ankle last season leading up to the College Football Playoff.
All eyes now turn to backup quarterback Mac Jones, who took over against Tennessee and passed for 72 yards. He will start for Alabama next week when they return home to face Arkansas. The No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide will then have a bye week before hosting rival, No. 2 LSU.
