Alabama’s New Kicker is a Freak of Nature

Piniero is the newest weapon in Alabama's arsenal.

University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban knows what a kicker with a weak leg can cost him. Two years after the Crimson Tide lost the Iron Bowl to Auburn 34-28 on a 109-yard touchdown return by the Tigers’ Chris Davis of a 57-yard Alabama field goal attempt, Saban ensured he won’t have to worry about anything like that again for at least the next couple of seasons by getting a commitment from JuCo superhuman Eddy Pineiro.

Pineiro showing off the strength of his leg last week on his twitter profile, posting a video of the longest field goal he’s ever hit. The distance? Only 73 yards.

Just a few days before at the Spring 2015 Korblue Kicking Challenge. Pineiro was showing off his range again, this time barely missing a 71-yarder by bouncing it off the crossbar. He also showed off some epic kickoffs, with one going for 86 yards. His hang-time was consistnetly in the 3.59-4.28 second range.

Pineiro played soccer at ASA Junior College in Miami, Fla. after he couldn’t qualify for a soccer scholarship at Florida Atlantic due to his academics. After a tryout at Alabama early in June, Saban offered him a full-rid scholarship on the spot. Alabama will never let anything as unimportant as academics get in the way of signing a big-time player.

Peneiro was ranked as the No. 1 kicker form Kornblue Kicking and No. 3 from Chris Sailer Kicking. After his Kornblue showing he was being courted by Miami and Florida too, but Alabama was able to get the hard commit on June 11.
