The Albany Great Danes (22-7) will try to slow down the America East’s top scoring team when they take on the Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks (11-17) at Costello Athletic Center. The game starts at 7:00 pm ET on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
The River Hawks lost to Binghamton 81-77 on Saturday. Isaac White finished with 20 points to lead the game. The Great Danes are coming off an 82-70 win over Stony Brook on Wednesday. Peter Hooley played well and claimed his second double-double of the season, posting 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Over the last five games, Logan Primerano and Jahad Thomas have played well for the River Hawks. During that stretch, Primerano has averaged 16.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.2 three-pointers. Not to be outdone, Thomas has put up 20.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.6 steals.
This game should be a battle of contrasting styles. The River Hawks (ranked 13th in the nation in possessions per game) prefer an up-tempo style of play, while the Great Danes (267th) are slow-paced.
This will be the second matchup of the season between these two teams. The Great Danes won the first game 75-63. Evan Singletary was a standout player in the game, producing 22 points, five rebounds, five assists, one steal, and two three-pointers.
