Arizona Cardinals vs. Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

Kansas City has been tabbed as the heavy favorite and is currently giving up 17 points to Arizona. Oddsmakers have determined the over/under (O/U) to be 50 points, and there could be multiple decent in-game betting opportunities for this match.

The Cardinals are 4-4 against the spread (ATS) and are down 3.8 units so far. They’ve been a decent under bet and have posted an O/U mark of 3-5. The Chiefs have been a nice surprise for moneyline bettors this season, gaining 7.9 units. The team is 8-1 ATS and has an O/U record of 5-4.

The Cardinals are just 2-6 straight up (SU) in 2018 while the Chiefs are 8-1 SU.

The Cardinals enter after an 18-15 win over San Francisco in Week 8. The Cards defense allowed the 49ers to run for 107 yards on 31 rush attempts. On the offensive side, Josh Rosen completed 23 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. David Johnson (59 rushing yards on 16 attempts) spearheaded the ground attack. Larry Fitzgerald (eight receptions, 102 yards, one TD) and Johnson (four catches, 41 yards) shared the receiving duties in the win.

Kansas City is coming off of a 37-21 win over Cleveland in Week 9. Patrick Mahomes completed 23-of-32 passes for 375 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Kareem Hunt (91 yards on 17 rush attempts, two TDs) spearheaded the running attack while Travis Kelce (seven receptions, 99 yards, two TDs) and Sammy Watkins (five catches, 62 yards) led the pass-catching corps in the win.

Arizona has run the ball on 39.3 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Kansas City has an overall rush percentage of 41.4 percent. The Cardinals have produced 68 rush yards per game and have five scores on the ground this year. The Chiefs are averaging 118 rushing yards per game and have nine total rush TDs.

The Cards offense has logged 184 yards per game in the air overall and has seven passing scores so far. The Chiefs have put up 322 pass yards per game and have 29 total pass TDs.

Defensively, Arizona should have the upper hand when it comes to limiting the pass. The team has allowed 143 rush yards and 245 pass yards per game. The Kansas City defense has allowed 322.1 yards per game to opposing passers and 124.8 yards per game to opposing runners. Both teams allow similar adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) to opponents, as the Cards have given up an ANY/A of 5.99 to opposing QBs, while the Chiefs are allowing an ANY/A of 6.45.

Offensively, Rosen is up to 878 passing yards this season, and has connected on 56 percent of his 130 attempts with four passing scores and three interceptions. He’s got a 5.36 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number sits at 3.03 over the last two games.

Patrick Mahomes has completed 186-of-283 passes for 2,598 yards, 25 TDs and six INTs for Kansas City. His ANY/A sits at 9.49 for the season and 10.01 over his past two games.
