Arnold Palmer Invitational Fantasy Lineup

The road to The Masters continues with the Arnold Palmer Invitational from the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida this week. Some of the top golfers in the world will compete for their share of the $6.3 million purse, but they aren’t the only ones that will have the opportunity to win big. DraftKings has countless tournaments lined up for this week’s PGA event including the PGA $400K Signature Hole featured event, which will award $100K to first place. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA tournaments.

Justin Rose, $10,500

Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott and Henrik Stenson will each make for interesting plays in DraftKings tournaments, but we prefer Rose as the better option based on the combination of his recent play, track record at this tournament and price tag. Rose has finished in the top-20 in each of his last three events overall and he has recorded three top-10 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational included a runner-up to Tiger Woods three years ago. Rose started slow at Doral last week before kicking in to high gear with a 67 in the final round to finish tied for 17th and he should ride the momentum from that strong finish in to this week’s tournament.

Ryan Moore, $9,800

McIlroy has struggled early on this season and we would rather not take a chance on Scott as he shoots for his third win in as many weeks, especially with so many strong options available to us at under $10K. Moore is one of those options, as he is coming off a solo-third at the Valspar Championship despite an even-par 71 in the final round of that tournament. Moore has finished in the top-12 in five of his seven events so far this season and he tied for fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2012. His consistency makes him a solid pick for this week’s DraftKings tournaments.

Zach Johnson, $8,300

The Open champion is coming off a rough performance at Doral in which he finished tied for 47th and a missed cut at the Honda Classic, but he should bounce back this week. Johnson has made the cut in 11 of his 12 career appearances at Bay Hill including four top-10 finishes. Johnson tied for 9th at this event a year ago so while his recent form isn’t great his history at this course is strong enough to give him the green light in DraftKings tournaments at a very reasonable price.

Charles Howell III, $8,000

Howell opened the Valspar Championship with a 67 in the opening round and finished in a tie for 5th despite never really looking like a threat to win the event. He has made the cut in 13 of his 15 appearances at this event and while he has only one top-10 finish over that span he has some upside heading in to this year’s tournament. The fact that he is available at just $8K makes him that much more attractive in DraftKings tournaments.

Matt Every, $7,500

Every shocked the world when he won this tournament for the second year in a row in 2015. The odds are stacked against him winning for the third year in a row, but it’s hard to argue against having him in your DraftKings lineup at just $7.5K. His recent form hasn’t been very strong by any means, but Every’s history at the Arnold Palmer Invitational makes him worth taking a chance on at just $7.5K.

Tony Finau, $5,900

We wouldn’t have spent more than $10K on our top pick if it wasn’t for a deep sleeper option at the other end of our lineup to help us balance our lineup. Finau isn’t an elite option by any means, but he has the length to perform at a high level at a course like Bay Hill and his upside is high enough to convince us he is worth taking a chance on. Finau has missed the cut at four straight events since placing 18th at the Farmers Insurance Open, but he should find a way to make it through this week and the minimal risk is certainly worth the reward if he can play above the level of his extremely low price tag as a deep sleeper option.
