Barboza vs Lee Odds For Saturday UFC

Barboza vs Lee Odds

Barboza vs Lee Odds – The UFC is back on the East Coast in New Jersey for Fight Night 128. The main event sees lightweights Edson Barboza and Kevin Lee meet over 5 rounds.

The top guns in the lightweight division are current titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. Barboza is coming off a loss to Nurmagomedov where he at least survived the full 15 minutes and Lee fought Ferguson off for just over 14 minutes before falling. Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been scheduled to meet several times but the fight just doesn’t happen. Recently, Ferguson hurt his knee and Nurmagomedov fought Al Iaquinta with the belt on the line.

That puts Barboza and Lee both in a must win situation. A win for either man puts them back in the hunt for a title shot. A loss means two fights dropped in a row, and that is to be avoided at all costs by guys who want to contend.

Lee is coming in a slight favorite over Barboza in what is basically a pick-em fight. One of the two men needs to put in a highlight reel performance. Just notching a hohum or even a hard fought win is good, but both men need to do something to appear a threat to the upper echelon guys. Iaquinta’s recent title loss moves another contender to the back of the pack, helping the winner’s cause further.

In the co-feature spot we get a pair of veterans asked to do it again as Frankie Edgar rematches Cub Swanson. Edgar is still looking to stay in the title picture. Edgar, as good as he is, just could not beat Jose Aldo and he never got a shot at Conor McGregor. Now with Max Holloway at the top of the 145 pound weight class, Edgar is hoping for one more shot in a “fresh” match-up.

Meanwhile, Swanson needs a big name for his resume and Edgar fits the bill. Swanson had a four fight winning streak go by the wayside last fight when he was stopped by rising star Brian Ortega. His first match-up with Edgar saw him fall with just seconds left in the match and current champ Holloway also finished him back in April of 2015. Swanson needs to break through here against Edgar, who has long been considered the #1 contender in the weight class.
