Baseball Betting: The Milwaukee Brewers visit the San Francisco Giants on Friday night in what should be a low-scoring game. The Brewers are expected to send 15-game winner Wily Peralta to the mound while it should be Ryan Vogelsong going for the Giants. Here is a look at the matchup and baseball picks.
Probable Pitchers – Peralta vs. Vogelsong
Wily Peralta is 15-8 on the season with a 3.56 ERA. He is coming off a rare bad outing as he allowed eight runs on seven hits against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He made it through just five innings and he allowed three home runs in a start for the first time in his career. He is 1-2 in his last three starts with a 5.19 ERA. He has pitched well against the Giants in his career with a 2-0 record and a 3.18 ERA.
Ryan Vogelsong has pitched much better than this overall record would indicate. His ERA for the season is under four but he does not have a winning record this season. The Giants seem to play low-scoring games when he is on the mound.
Game Notes
The Giants are just 20th in the league in runs scored per game but they are 7th in team ERA. The Brewers have almost the exact opposite numbers as they are 8th in runs scored and 15th in team ERA. The Brewers have won seven of the last 10 in this series with three of the last four going under. Most of that success has come at home as they are just 4-6 in the last ten in San Francisco. This game on Friday is the first of a three-game series between two teams fighting to make the playoffs in the National League. The Brewers have led the NL Central for much of the season but they have no margin for error with the Cardinals and Pirates right behind them while the Giants are trailing the Dodgers in the NL West.
Baseball Picks
Both teams are struggling to score runs and this pitching matchup should be a good one with Peralta against Vogelsong so we’ll look for the contest to go under the baseball betting total.
