Baseball Betting: It is an NL West showdown on Tuesday night as the San Francisco Giants visit the Los Angeles Dodgers. One of these two teams is going to win the division while the other is likely going to get a Wild Card spot. Winning the division is extremely important as neither team wants to get stuck in a one-game playoff game. It should be a great pitching matchup on Tuesday with Madison Bumgarner expected to get the start for the Giants while the Dodgers go with Zack Greinke. Here is a look at the matchup and baseball predictions.
Bumgarner vs. Greinke
The Giants best pitcher is Madison Bumgarner and he comes into this game with a record of 18-9 and a 2.91 ERA. He held the Diamondbacks to two runs and seven hits last time out. Bumgarner has a chance to be a 20-game winner if he can win his last two starts of the season although there is a good chance that Bumgarner would be held back to start the Wild Card playoff game if the Giants don’t win the division.
Zack Greinke should get the call on Tuesday night for the Dodgers. He is 15-8 on the season with a 2.64 ERA. Greinke has been the number two starter behind Clayton Kershaw all season and for the most part he has been consistent, going six or seven innings and allowing one or two runs per start.
Team Notes
The Giants have almost the same record on the road as they do at home as they have been a good team to take in road games. On the other side, the Dodgers have been much better on the road and even though they have a winning record at home, they have been a poor value in home games.
Series Notes
This has strangely enough been a road team series as the Giants had won eight of the last 10 in Los Angeles before Monday’s game. Four of the last six in Los Angeles had gone over the total.
Baseball Predictions
We’ll look for the Giants to win this one on the road with Bumgarner on the mound and for the game to stay under the total.
