The Kansas Jayhawks battle the No. 3 Baylor Bears this week in a game that will feature the country’s fourth-leading receiver, Corey Coleman (570 yards, 11 TDs). Baylor (4-0) enters this game hoping to continue its strong season, while Kansas (0-4) will aim to pick up a much-needed win. The game will air Saturday, Oct 10 at 12:00 p.m. ET on FS1.
In last week’s matchup, Kansas got blown out by Iowa State 38-13. Tre’ Parmalee had a huge game in the loss, grabbing five receptions for 81 yards and one TD. Montell Cozart put up 150 yards and a TD through the air. Baylor is hoping for another victory like last week’s performance, when it won big over Texas Tech 63-35. Shock Linwood had a great game running the ball for the Bears, rushing 20 times for 221 yards and two TDs. Corey Coleman had a great game as well, adding 110 receiving yards and three TDs on seven catches.
The Bears are favored by 38 points against the Jayhawks this week and the Over/Under (O/U) is currently not available.
Sitting at 0-4 Straight Up (SU) and 1-3 Against The Spread (ATS), the Jayhawks will look to improve heading into Week 6. On average, the Bears earn 11.8 flags each game, one of the worst rates in the nation. Such errors could be beneficial for the Jayhawks if they persist into this week’s game.
In the other locker room, the Bears head into Week 6 with records of 2-2 ATS and 4-0 SU. Chances are Baylor will continue to rely on its run game, where its 376.8 rushing yards per game ranks second in the nation. Moving on to the Baylor defense, it has some favorable matchups that it may be able to take advantage of as well. Kansas’s unreliable run game could cost them a shot at victory over the Bears. The Jayhawks average 145.2 rushing yards per game, 101st in the nation. Teams need to stay focused in the first quarter against the fast-starting Bears, who average a Division I-leading 22.5 points in the first 15 minutes.
