Bears News: Mitchell Trubisky Wants Televisions Turned Off at Halas Hall Due To Negativity

NFL

Usually when a player is talking about things like ear muffs and blocking out pundits on the television, they need to dial in the focus. Moreover, if that player is your team’s starting quarterback; it’s a bit concerning.

Mitchell Trubisky says that the Chicago Bears need to turn off all televisions inside Halas Hall. Indeed, this is to insulate the struggling team from outside criticism. It’s worth mention that much of that criticism is because of Trubisky’s own poor play.

Right now, Trubisky has just a meager 1,217 passing yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions and a 34.8 QBR which is almost last in the NFL.

Therefore, here is what Trubisky said to Jeff Dickerson before Wednesday’s practice.

“Trying to get some of these TVs in the building turned off because you’ve got too many people talking on TV about us and what they think about us — what we should do, what we are and what we’re not,” Trubisky said before Wednesday’s practice. “But they don’t really know who we are, or what we’re capable of as people, or what we’re going through, or what we’re thinking. It’s just the outside viewers looking in.”

The quarterback of the 3-5 struggling bears – losers of four straight – continued on the why behind shutting down Soldier Field televisions.

“So tunnel vision, ear muffs and just come to work every day and try to get better and get back to what we know we’re capable of doing.”

In conclusion, Trubisky probably should have thought a little more before appearing so sensitive or attentive to outside opinion. Simply, quotes like this are not the hallmark of a steadfast leader. For example, how many times did you read quotes like this from Dan Marino or John Elway when they were struggling?

It’s on Trubisky to just play better, win some games, and the noise should quiet down. Then he will have no need for any ear muffs.
