The Bellator 134 fight card happened Friday night at the Mohegan Sun, with the main card airing on Spike TV. The co-main event bout of the evening featured King Mo Lawal facing Cheick Kongo in his first fight at heavyweight.
Lawal was able to earn a win against the veteran Kongo, but Lawal’s wrestling-heavy attack that does little damage in the ground and pound was boo’d again by the audience. Lawal was able to excersize control and be moderately aggressive throughout the fight, and he did what he claimed he would do and that is he would not have any problems handling heavyweights. Kongo was not aggressive enough, though he landed with a few stinging strikes that he did not follow-up on that Mo did not like.

Britain’s Linton Vassell bounced back from a loss to Emanuel Newton in a title bid for his last outing by being too big, strong and technical for veteran Thierry Sokoudjou. Vassell was bigger and stronger, and when Sokoudjou looked like he was going to come up short on his punches, Vassell pressed his advantage and got inside against. Chest to chest, he was able to control Sokoudjou who found his judo technique negated by Vassell. Carrying the bigger man on top throughout the fight, Sokoudjou was fading when he tapped out to the choke. For Vassell it was a good bounce back win.
England’s hard hitting Paul Daley pounded sturdy Brazilian veteran Andre Santos for three rounds in notching the unanimous decision win. Daley was returning to Bellator after a long time away due to visa issues, and Santos was a late replacement for champion Douglas Lima. Santos proved a bit tougher than expected,a s he took a thrashing throughout the fight but continued to hang in there. Daley did his job in notching the win, and hopefully he will get the shot at Lima in his next outing.
In the opening main card bout, Brennan Ward submitted Curtis Millender with a rear naked choke roughly 90 seconds into the fight.
All the three round bouts had a over/under of 1.5 rounds, with King Mo and Paul Daley paying off the over in going the distance and Vassell paying the over in his stoppage, seeing only Ward pay off on the under.
