Bellator 158 Odds – MMA from London

Bellator 158 Odds

Bellator 158 Odds –  This Saturday, July 16 Bellator 158 comes to us from the O2 Arena in London. The sport books have posted lines and over/under numbers for the five featured fights of the evening. The live event features thirteen fights in all, however it is unlikely additional lines will be posted.

The main event sees British veteran Paul “Semtex” Daley as he takes on Brazil’s Douglas Lima. Lima is the former welterweight title holder, but he dropped the belt to stand out Michael Koreshkov of Russia and he had to pull out of a subsequent rematch with an injury. Since his return to Bellator, Daley has had a lot of his plans fall through as well, including a previous fight with Lima. This fight should leave the winner a clear shot at a title shot and Koreshkov in their next outing.

Also waiting to get into the title picture at welterweight is the sensational Michael Page (10-0), who faces veteran striker Evangelista Santos (21-17). Santos is 2-1 so far in 2016, and at 28 years old he is attempting to make one last run for the title. Unfortunately for him, he faces Page now, who is an unorthodox and unrelenting striker who has drawn comparisons to Anderson Silva. Santos is also famous for his all out striking style, but his most memorable fights came 10 years ago against Melvin Manhoef. In a more recent rematch, Santos lasted less than a minute against Manhoef, so it is safe to say his best days are behind him. As for Page, he is coming off three straight first round knock outs and he has “the future” written all over him. Santos, not so much.

A pair of UFC veterans bolster the main card as heavyweight Matt Mitrione and light heavyweight Francis Carmont hit the Bellator cage as favorites.

Mitrione (10-5) faces veteran Oli Thompson (17-8). Thompson is from England, and his resume includes an 0-2 cup of coffee with the UFC back in 2012. Thompson is used to fighting at 205 lbs but he goes up in weight to face the hard hitting Mitrione as a heavyweight. Punching it out should suit Thompson just fine, and this one is not expected to go long. For his part, Mitrione is coming back on very short notice, as he won his Bellator debut this past June 24th when he stopped Carl Seumanutala three minutes into their bout.

Carmont (24-11) is coming off a loss in Bellator to Phil Davis, so he will be looking to right the ship against Lukasz Klinger (7-2). Klinger is making his debut for the Bellator promotion, and he has gone 1-2 in his last three fights. What may be more telling is that both if his losses have come via KO, one of them where he lasted just 15 seconds.
