Bellator 183 Odds – Bellator is back on SpikeTV this Saturday night with Bellator 183, and as usual the main events are set to air on Spike TV. All bouts are three rounds as there are no title fights scheduled.
The main event of the evening sees former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson taking on Bellator veteran Patricky Freire. Henderson was perhaps Bellator’s highest profile signing from the UFC and Bellator has matched him very tough. Henderson has gone 1-2, falling against Andrey Koreshov in a welterweight title bout and losing to Michael Chandler in a lightweight title bout. Henderson’s lone win under the Bellator flag came against Patricio Freiere, the brother of Saturday’s opponent. Patricio has long been considered the tougher of the Freire brothers and Henderson owns a win over him. Patricky is looking to win his second fight in a row.
Former UFC heavyweight star Roy Nelson is in the co-feature spot as he makes his Bellator debut against Javy Ayala. The 29 year old Ayala is currently riding a two fight winning streak in Bellator that saw him score a 16 second knock out over MMA veteran Sergey Kharitonov in his last outing. With Nelson known for having a granite head, we are going to say Ayala tested. Ayala has finished 9 of his 10 wins before the time limit, while Nelson’s fame comes from his endurance.
Bellator typically likes to work the “grudge” angle for promotion and that is what you get with Paul Daley and Lorenz Larkin. The disrespect between the two appears to be genuine and that could lead to a hard hitting encounter between them. Larkin left the UFC after two straight wins and promptly laid an egg in his Bellator debut, losing to Douglas Lima this past June. A win over Daley, who has become Bellator’s “bad boy”, would go a long way towards righting the ship.
Undefeated Adam Piccolotti (9-0) looks to make it six wins in a row inside the Bellator cage as he faces veteran Goiti Yamauchi (21-3). Yamauchi has gone 7-2 in Bellator and he is currently riding a two fight winning streak that includes a win over Ryan Couture. Piccoloti could be looking at a title shot with a win here.
The broadcast is expected to start with featherweight action as Aaron Pico faces Justin Lin. Pico dropped his MMA debut at lightweight this past June at Bellator 180 and he is dropping 20 pounds for his second MMA fight. Providing the opposition is Lin, who is making his Bellator debut coming off of two straight losses.
The live event at the SAP Center has thirteen fights on the schedule. Below are the odds for the five fights set for the SpikeTV broadcast. Unfortunately with Bellator, we are unlikely to see the rest of the card pop-up at the sports books as the number two MMA company in the world just does not get the attention of the UFC. Check your local listings for start times.
