Berto vs Ortiz 2 Odds – The StubHub Center in Carson, California hosts the Premier Boxing Champions this Saturday with a card that sees the main events air on Fox.
The first fight was an action-packed slobberknocker of a fight, and more of the same is expected in this one. Both men are different fighters and a lot has happened in the five years since their first meeting, so the PBC is trying to see if the same mix will results in a great fight as well.
And it should. Both men have been through a lot and both men need a win to remain relevant in the lucrative welterweight division. The two have both gotten a huge payday in their careers, as both have fought against Floyd Mayweather Jr. The first fight between Ortiz and Berto was won by Ortiz, and that led to the Mayweather fight. Ortiz did not handle that success well, as he has gone 2-3 in his last five fights and done such things as “Dancing With the Stars” that appear to keep him away from boxing. Now he is here at 29 years old and the same questions about him have been popping up for the last 10 years.
Berto fought Mayweather in his last fight, and though he lost he did not have a shameful performance. He is viewed as a very serious boxer dedicated to his craft who does not have the distractions of his opponent. What Ortiz has in raw natural talent Berto makes up for with hard work. Many think he underestimated Ortiz the first time out and was surprised when the kid got up off the canvas. That will not be the case this time. Berto is not the media darling that some fighters are and therefore he has to keep on winning to stay in the spotlight even more than Ortiz.

The other fight set to appear on the Fox broadcast pits light Heavyweights Thomas Williams Jr (19-1) and Edwin Rodriguez (28-1). Rodriguez has been fighting well and has gone 4-0 since his “loss” to Andre Ward back in November of 2013. Williams Jr, out of the Maryland area was last seen on the PBC’s SpikeTV broadcast last November when he scored a second round KO over Umberto Savigne. This is a big step up in competition for Williams Jr.
