It will be the fourth time that Harbor Shores will host this tournament and first since Rocco Mediate won here in 2016. Kelly pushed Jimenez to the limit in Birmingham but wound up falling just short of stealing the victory from him. Kelly finished T-8th at The Tradition at 14-under, which should be a good jumping off point heading in to this week. Singh has flashed his immense skill this season with one win and three top-10 finishes in six starts heading in to the Senior PGA Championship. The fact that he was the runner-up here in his debut at this tournament in 2017 should inspire confidence. Singh has the potential to build off that result with an even better performance this week. At +1200 odds to win, Singh is an excellent value betting option to win in Michigan.
Joe Durant +1200
Durant is the only player in the field with a top-10 result in each of his last six starts. While he hasn’t performed at a high level at this tournament in the past, Durant has been exceptional all season so the potential is there for a breakthrough performance in Michigan this week. Considering the impressive run he has put together of late, Durant is certainly an intriguing betting option this week.
Scott McCarron +1200
McCarron has six wins to his name on the Champions Tour including the 2017 Senior Players Championship. With four top-10 finishes including a runner-up finish this year, McCarron certainly has shown that he has the skill set to consistently contend on the Champions Tour. Additionally, McCarron recorded a T-5th at this event a year ago. At decent odds, McCarron is another interesting betting option worth consideration.
Sleeper Picks
Gene Sauers +2200
Sauers won the 2016 U.S. Senior Open Championship so we know that he has the skill set to contend at a major championship. Sauers has shown up consistently on the Champions Tour this season but he hasn’t yet broken through. Is this the week that it happens? At +2200 odds, Sauers is worth taking a chance on as a potential sleeper pick to win the Senior PGA Championship.
Rocco Mediate +4000
Mediate won here the last time this tournament was hosted in Michigan, yet he is listed at +4000 odds to win outright in this year’s edition of this event. This seems like a stretch. Mediate finished T-8th at the Regions Tradition so he is certainly in decent form heading in to this tournament. At such long odds, Mediate should be an excellent value sleeper pick to win the Senior PGA Championship this week.
