Week 3 was a shocker across the board. Everything you thought you knew, throw it out. It’s possible that’s a bit of an overreaction as we’re expecting a deviation back to the norm this week. That means a better effort from the New England Patriots, a worse effort from the Buffalo Bills and a better defensive performance from the Los Angeles Chargers. Those are three of the teams involved in our four-game teaser of the week.
Without further ado, here’s our best teaser pick for Week 4:
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots
Line: New England -7
The Patriots have won and covered in each of their last five home games against Miami. However, New England is in the midst of an early season funk following consecutive losses to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions. Meanwhile, the Dolphins have ranked among the NFL’s biggest surprises with three straight wins to open the year. Teasing the spread pushes Miami to plus-14 points on the road in Week 4. Expect the Dolphins to cover the double-digit number on the four-team teaser.
Buffalo Bills at Green Bay Packers
Line: Green Bay -10
Buffalo gets a little more respect following a blowout win over Minnesota in Week 3. However, the Bills are still listed as 10-point underdogs on the road against a Green Bay side that looked clearly outmatched in a 31-17 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 3. While it’s not as drastic as last week’s line, the seven-point teaser moves Buffalo to plus-17. Considering Aaron Rodgers’ injury status and the holes in the Packers defense, there is a very good chance Buffalo covers as a double-digit underdog once again in Week 4.
San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Chargers
Line: Los Angeles -10
Things went from bad to worse for the 49ers when they lost franchise quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a season ending torn ACL injury in Week 3. Now they have to travel to face an AFC contender in the Chargers with C.J. Beathard as their quarterback. San Francisco is getting 10 points as an underdog but that might not be enough to cover against an LA side with an explosive offense and a dangerous defense. Applying the seven-point tease to this line moves the Chargers down to -3, which is a much more reasonable number. Take LA to cover the three-point spread at home in Week 4.
Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys
Line: Dallas -3
The final pick on our teaser bet is Detroit. The Lions turned a lot of heads with a surprising 26-10 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football. Now they have a chance to climb back to .500 after being left for dead following back-to-back losses to the New York Jets and 49ers in the first two weeks of the season. Dallas certainly didn’t look good in a 24-13 loss to a previously winless Seattle Seahawks side last week so we are more than willing to take a chance on Detroit. Applying the seven-point tease to the Lions moves them from plus-3 to plus-10 as the final team on our teaser card.
