I definitely jinxed myself. Last week, I was bragging about hitting three straight college football teasers, and I should have known that the karma gods would punish me for my insolence. I was fortunate to get a backdoor cover with Texas Tech, but Mississippi State let me down by losing outright to Florida in the Mullen Bowl.
Back to the drawing board. I’m a little more humble and ready to have another winning week of college football betting in Week 6. So, here is the best teaser pick for Week 6.
Week 1 Teaser: Loser
Week 2 Teaser: Winner
Week 3 Teaser: Winner

Navy Midshipmen +3.5 at Air Force Falcons
Florida Atlantic Owls -7 vs. Old Dominion Monarchs
Navy has had an up-and-down start to the year. The Midshipmen were rocked by Hawai’i despite being a favorite on the CFB betting line in their opener, and they suffered a tough overtime loss to SMU two weeks ago.
Three different quarterbacks have lined up under center this year, but the Midshipmen are averaging 5.4 yards per carry and keep chugging along. They have looked progressively better week-to-week, and they should put up big numbers against Air Force.
The Falcons have one of the worst defenses in the country. Last year, they couldn’t stop the run to save their lives, allowing opponents to rush for 5.9 yards per carry. They have improved in that aspect this year, but only because they are playing teams that are content to throw the ball as they sell out to stop the run. On the whole, they are averaging a whopping 6.2 yards per play.
I expect the Midshipmen to move the ball well on the ground, while shutting down Air Force’s offense. The Falcons have the 118th best offense in the country according to S&P+, and Navy shouldn’t have to score much to cover the number here.
For the other leg of this teaser, it’s time to jump on the Florida Atlantic bandwagon. This was the time of the year they started to turn it on in 2017, and there are signs they are a prime breakout candidate this week.
The Owls had more success against UCF than any other team has had this season as they put up 447 total yards of offense and 36 points. Devin Singletary finally got on track in that game too, and he carried that performance over to last week’s game against Middle Tennessee State.
Old Dominion is not a good team. Although the Monarchs pulled off the upset of the season with a win over Virginia Tech, they have lost their other four games. Their defense is allowing 509 yards per game, and the Owls should shred this unit.
The Monarchs are one-dimensional on offense too. They are averaging just 3.1 yards per carry this season, and Blake LaRussa has had to bail them out with his arm these last two weeks. It’s only a matter of time before an opponent figures him out though, as he is 5’10 and moves the pocket to find throwing lanes.
