With the NFL draft right around the corner, it is time to start looking at the futures for the 2018 season. The regular season win totals have been posted by, so let’s take a closer look at some of the best ones to bet in the NFC.
Carolina Panthers – 8.5 Wins (O: +110, U: -130)
The Panthers were 11-5 last season and don’t pick until 24th in the draft, and they still have Cam Newton, a former MVP who can be incredible and maddening all at the same time. As always, the defense goes as Luke Kuechly goes and as long as he is healthy, this should be a very good unit. The biggest downside for the Panthers is that they’re in a very tough division in the NFC South with Atlanta, New Orleans and Tampa Bay, but if the Panthers play to their potential, they can come out on top in the South.
Dallas Cowboys – 8.5 Wins (O: +125, U: -145)
The Cowboys were 9-7 and they’ll have the 19th pick, and even after releasing Dez Bryant, the Dallas offense should be in good hands with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. However, Elliott has to stay on the field and stay out of trouble to be effective. The defense is solid, but not great, and the Cowboys should look to improve there in the draft. However, the Cowboys could reach their win total because while they’re not better than the Super Bowl champions from Philadelphia, they’re better than the New York Giants and Washington.
Los Angeles Rams – 9.5 Wins (O: -130, U: +110)
The Rams were one of the biggest surprises in the league last season at 11-5, which earned Coach of the Year plaudits for Sean McVay. The Rams, who don’t pick until 87th, were busy in the offseason as they signed Ndamukong Suh, and traded for Brandin Cooks, Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, and the Rams could have the best secondary in the NFL this season. Another double-digit win season isn’t out of the question for the Rams, who could wind up doing deep into the playoffs.
San Francisco 49ers – 8.5 Wins (O: -145, U: +1250)
The 49ers were 6-10 and will pick ninth in the draft. They looked great down the stretch after putting Jimmy Garoppolo under center, winning their final five games. He was rewarded with one of the biggest contracts in NFL history and now Garoppolo has to deal with that pressure. The 49ers also signed Richard Sherman, who left their rivals from Seattle and is out to prove he still has something left in the tank. The 49ers could be the Rams of this season and nine wins isn’t out of the reach. They’re a team on the rise in the NFC.
Seattle Seahawks – 8.5 Wins (O: -120, U: +100)
The Seahawks were 9-7 and will pick 18th, but they could be on the downslide now. It has been proven that Russell Wilson can only do so much behind a terrible offensive line and they traded Jermaine Kearse to the Jets for Sheldon Richardson, who is supposed to replace Michael Bennett. Sherman is gone and Kam Chancellor isn’t what he used to be, leaving just Earl Thomas in the “Legion of Boom”. Things could get worse before it gets better in Seattle.
