What We Know About The Billionaire Who Wants To Buy AC Milan

Inzaghi could have a new boss in short time.

There has been plenty of uncertainty surrounding Serie A side AC Milan over the past few years and while the product on the field has struggled to deliver the success that fans are used to, the politics off of it have heated up again and become the main attraction. The reports of the possible sale of the team seemed exaggerated for some time, but Thai billionaire Bee Taechaubol has claimed he has made a $1 billion bid to buy the Rossoneri.

February marked the 29th anniversary of Silvio Berlusconi’s purchase of the team and the historic changes that were made under his watch, but more change might be inevitable at this point. It appears as though Taechaubol could be the man that once again revolutionizes the club and turns their fortunes around.

Fading Brand?

AC Milan has had plenty of success both at home and across Europe over the three decades since Berlusconi took over and it’s amazing to think about what they have been able to accomplish in comparison to where they stood before he bought the club. However, there has been a noticeable drop off in the team’s play over the past couple of years and it has been reflected in the dipping attendance and the excitement surrounding the club. As of this moment, they are a mediocre ninth in the Serie A table with just eight wins in 25 games. They have just six wins at home on the season and it’s hard to sell tickets when the team isn’t even delivering at home. In terms of the Champions League, AC Milan is quite a ways away as they’re 11 points back of third place Napoli, which is where they’d need to get. This is a team that’s won the Champions League seven times, so it shows how far they’ve fallen that they’re not even in contention for a spot in the tournament.

There is no doubt that Milan now needs the type of life infusion that they got when Berlusconi took over all of those years ago and with a willing owner waiting in the wings, a change could be inevitable.

An Offer Berlusconi Can’t Refuse

The parent company Fininvest denied speculation regarding the potential sale of the team but it didn’t take long for “Mr. Bee” to reaffirm his intent to purchase the controlling stake for the team. Milan was never officially made for sale but the admitted talks between the two sides and the substantial money that has been put up for it means there is a very good chance that something can happen soon. Berlusconi has dealt with his own personal and political issues away from the team and with a chance to move on and take such a huge profit, few would be surprised if he eventually accepted the offer.

Who Is This Mr. Bee?

While nothing is in stone just yet, there has already been speculation as to what Taechaubol could bring to the club and whether or not he is the man to turn the situation around at Milan. Mr. Bee is the co-owner of the Global Legends Series and he is reportedly a huge soccer fan that would love to become heavily involved with a top club team in Europe. There is no denying the money is there and that he would reinvest in the club. Considering the current conditions of the Serie A, that money and business ability would be welcomed.

Taechaubol has had success everywhere he has bought into and if he has the chance to do the same at Milan, he would undoubtedly want to make a spectacle with the team. His ability to provide the money and stability at the top would undoubtedly be a welcome change for the club and its fans and considering where AC Milan stands as an organization right now. It’s clear that the potential change would be a good thing in terms of the overall future outlook for the club.
