For all of the hype around the Blue Jays’ sons of Hall of Famers, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio, it’s the son of a third former Major Leaguer, Bo Bichette, who’s hit the ground running the fastest.
Bichette, son of former Rockies outfielder Dante Bichette, set a Major League record Thursday night with a double in his ninth straight game. That’s especially remarkable considering it’s only his 11th career game, period.

A good start
The Cubs’ Derek Lee set the record with doubles in eight straight games in 2007, and Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina matched it three years ago.
But neither of them was a rookie trying to acclimate himself against the American League East.
Bichette has hit in all 11 career games and hit his fourth home run, a 441-foot moonshot that wowed the Toronto crowd in his first home game.
Bichette, 21, is the first rookie to have an extra-base hit in nine straight games since some guy named Ted Williams in 1939. That’s, um, pretty good company.

What’s next?
Bichette has just 53 career plate appearances, so this can’t be considered anything but a well-timed hot streak. He’s hitting .408/.453/.837, and that obviously won’t be maintained.
But consider that Bichette had a career minor-league OPS of almost .900, and you know his future is bright indeed. Combine that with the prowess of Guerrero Jr., Biggio and perhaps Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and you can see why the Blue Jays are excited about their lineup of the future.
