Just a few weeks into the off-season, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is somewhere warm and working hard to drop some pounds. Furthermore, it looks like whatever he is up to is working.
This backs up some recent reports from Blue Jays’ team president Mark Shapiro. Recently, Shapiro said that Guerrero Jr. was kicking things into high gear.

This past season, Guerrero Jr. finished his rookie campaign with a decent enough .272/.339/.433 and 15 home runs to go along with a 2.1 bWAR. Following that, the Blue Jays said they wanted their young superstar to get in better shape.
Equally important, Guerrero Jr. said weeks before that a statement about never before working out. Then, he clarified those comments.
Currently, it looks like Guerrero Jr. knows exactly what he is doing. Clearly he looks thinner, and we still have the real chunk of the off-season to go.
Obviously we don’t care about a players’ weight here at Get More Sports – but it’s hard to argue that if Guerrero Jr. comes into 2019 as a lean, mean fighting machine; he will be better off. And that’s good for not only the Blue Jays, but the entire sport of baseball.
Keep up the great work, Vlad.
