Regardless of who the Cleveland Browns end up playing at quarterback in 2015, he’ll have a legitimate passing target to throw to. Thursday the Browns added former Kansas City wide receiver Dwayne Bowe to their roster with a two-year deal.
Excited about the next chapter….Cleveland! Look forward to spending time with the DAWG POUND in the endzone!!

The Browns have made a concerted effort in free agency to improve their wide receiver corps, especially since Josh Gordon’s latest suspension will likely end his tenure with the team, whether he can take the field in 2015 or not.
The Browns added former Miami Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline last week. Neither Bowe or Hartline are the gamebreaker that Gordon is, but they have to be considered an upgrade as they will actually take the field for the Browns this season while Gordon holds down his couch and fights the urge to eat a stack of pot brownies he’s had in his freezer for three weeks.

Bowe had three good seasons with the Chiefs, including a spectacular 2010 campaign where he caught 72 passes for 1,162 yards and 15 touchdowns. Bowe got a big contract after that, but never lived up to it. He hasn’t passed 1,000 yards since 2011 and didn’t catch a touchdown last season.
Hartline too saw a drop in production last year after two straight 1,000 yard seasons for the Dolphins. He caught just 39 passes for 474 yards and two scores in 2014.
Jaguars grab Pierce off waivers
The Baltimore Ravens wasted no time in jettisoning running back Bernard Pierce after his DUI arrest earlier in the week, but the back up runner never made it to free agency. The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed him off waivers Thursday.
The Jaguars have been a mover and a shaker since free agency began in an effort to actually compete in the NFL like a legitimate NFL football team. Pierce will likely not get to join the Jags for the first couple of games this season as he’ll face at least a two-game suspension if he’s convicted of his DUI arrest.
Bills will add tight end Charles Clay
Fantasy football sleeper Charles Clay will be catching footballs in the northeast this season after signing a five-year, $38 million contract with the Buffalo Bills Thursday. Clay has spent his first four seasons with the Miami Dolphins and has been one of the more productive, if not unsung, tight ends in the league over the last two seasons.
The Dolphins had put the transition tag on Clay prior to free agency, but even they knew they’d probably lose him and signed former Browns tight end Jordan Cameron to replace him last week. The Bills needed to replace their own starting tight end after cutting Scott Chandler.
Chandler signed with the New England Patriots on Wednesday, a two-year contract worth $5.3 million.
Last year Clay caught 58 passes for 605 yards and three touchdowns, and likely saved a lot of fantasy football teams once they lost an offensive starter to injury.
Ahtyba Rubin signs with the Seahawks
With the Seattle Seahawks possibly shedding their entire defensive tackle roster in free agency, the team decided to address that Thursday by adding former Browns defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin to their team with a one-year deal.
Rubin has spent his entire career with Cleveland and had 28 tackles and one sack last season, playing nose tackle in their 3-4 defensive scheme. With the Seattle, he will most likely be a head-up tackle for them, replacing the departed Kevin Williams.
More good news for Devon Still
Just a day after announcing that his daughter Leah was possibly cancer free, free agent defensive tackle Devon Still was re-signed by the Cincinnati Bengals. Still signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Bengals after exploring other free agent possibilities for the last week and a half.
Congrats to Devon Still on signing his contract with the Bengals. It has truly been a special week for you and your family.

“Now that it looks like things are headed on the right path, I’m ready to go back and play football,” Still said in a statement released by the Bengals.
Wednesday Still released a photo of him and his daughter celebrating that her MIBG scans had returned with no signs of any active disease in her body on Instagram.
Leah must still have a bone biopsy to determine if she’s rid of the cancer, Stage 3 neuroblastoma, she was diagnosed with in June of 2014.
