The Premier Boxing Champions comes to us this Saturday night from the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn with a bout between welterweight superstar Danny Garcia and hometown favorite Paulie Malignaggi. The co-main event features WBA World Middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs, another Brooklyn native, as he makes his second title defense against veteran Sergio Mora.
This is Garcia’s first fight as a full-fledged welterweight after giving up his light welterweight world title earlier this year to move up in weight class. Garcia did not shine in his last outing back in April, where he faced Lamont Peterson and got taken out with a majority decision. In this case, Malignaggi has been off for more than a year and he is lacking the power to hurt Garcia even if he hits him flush, as the Brooklynite has very few actual stoppages in his long career.

Jacobs is looking to shine against the veteran Mora, who has been focusing on winning a world title in his latest run. Best remembered for his time on “The Contender” ten years ago, Mora had worked his way to a world title shot in his last outing, when he was supposed to face Jermain Taylor, but Taylor was arrested and Mora fought Abraham Han, winning via split decison. This fight now has become his last shot at a world title and, at 34 years old, he believes he has grown into the title.
