Quite possibly, Joe Flacco’s career as a Denver Bronco has concluded after just eight games.
According to Adam Schefter, Flacco has been placed on injured reserve per a source. Currently, Flacco is sidelined due to what is classified only as a ‘neck injury’. Obviously it’s serious enough he won’t play another down in 2019. Now Brandon Allen will get the start on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Brandon Allen starts Sunday vs. Cleveland, with Denver promoting QB Brett Rypien from practice squad to back up Allen.

Remember, this past Sunday Flacco called out the Broncos’ play-calling. In case you forgot, here’s what Flacco had to say.
“We’re now a 2-6 football team and we’re afraid to go for it in a two minute drill. I just felt like, what do we have to lose? Why can’t we be aggressive in some of these situations.”
Perhaps the Broncos were looking at the Flacco’s play and ability displayed during the year as the reason they were afraid to take a chance in that situation. Moreover, his numbers on the surface have been very Flacco-esque. Thus far he has six touchdowns and five interceptions and a 65 percent completion percentage. His quarterback rating of 85.1 is right in line with his career rating of 84.1.
Therefore, why wasn’t Flacco a success in Denver? While the answer isn’t clear to me, if you spent any time watching the Broncos this season; it’s clear that something needs fixed there. Whether or not all of that blame falls on Flacco can certainly be debated, but they are very stale to watch on television and with Flacco at the helm; they seem very slow and unimaginative.
Sometimes things get like that when a change is needed at quarterback or at head coach in the NFL. Now, the Broncos don’t have a choice in the matter with Flacco hitting injured reserve. Finall,y it’s worth wondering if we have seen the last of Flacco in the NFL. While never a superstar, he won a Super Bowl and has played the position for a long time. For that, he should be commended as a somewhat success.
