Pro Bowl left tackle Ryan Clady tore his left ACL Wednesday while blocking on a pass play during an 11-on-11 drill. It’s the second preseason season-ending injury for a Denver Broncos player and this one leaves Peyton Manning’s blindside in uncertain hands.
“He pulled himself out (of practice), said his knee was sore,” Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said. “We really weren’t that worried last night, everybody felt good, but we felt like we’d take a look at it this morning, and unfortunately we got some horrible news. Just devastating, I just feel bad for Ryan.”
Clady joins rookie tight end Jeff Heuerman on the season-ending-injury list. Heureman tore his ACL during a drill on May 9.
Clady going down opens an opportunity for rookie Ty Sambrailo from Colorado State to start early. The Broncos picked Sambrailo in the second round. Denver has also added free agent Ryan Harris. This is the second time Clady has torn his ACL, the first was in a pick-up basketball game back in April 2010. That year he was able to return for the regular season and start all 16 games. Because of that, the Broncos are holding out hope Clady can make a similar recovery.

Adrian Peterson embarrasses himself on Twitter
A day after Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer made it clear running back Adrian Peterson would either play for the Vikings or play for nobody, the All-Pro took to Twitter to complain about his situation and the fact that the Vikings don’t have to trade him or pay him if he doesn’t show up to work.

Considering the fact that Peterson could have negotiated for a fully guaranteed contract when he signed this latest deal in 2011, it makes the rant look even worse. Weeks before he signed a contract that he now says is inhibiting his “free will”, the Collective Bargaining Agreement made it so players could have more leverage in long-term deals. But because Peterson and his agent did not negotiate for such a deal, he is now at the whim of whatever the Vikings front office wants until 2017.
